The 18th Gala des Prix Prends ça court !, which awards the best of short films in Quebec, saw filmmaker Denis Villeneuve make a very special recognition on Friday: his favorite prize, something new this year ito.
On an evening led by Anaîs Davron at the Cinémathèque québécoise in Montreal, the director crowned the short film Aska by Clara Milo.
This one tells the story of two young sisters who must be brave in nature to reach a turbulent volcano to throw their mother’s ashes there.
Denis Villeneuve, who watched 55 short films in Quebec competing in the gala, also gave special mention to blonde at nightby Gabrielle Demers.
Clara Milo won a $ 20,000 scholarship, while Gabrielle Demers left with $ 5,000 in her pocket.
Sikiitu won the Court Cup
One hundred prizes of all kinds were awarded as part of the 18th Gala des Prix Prends ça court! Friday. They were presented by approximately sixty personalities from the world of cinema and television.
The grand prize, called the Court Cup, was awarded to Gabriel Allard Gagnon for Sikiitu. Co-scripted with Erik K. Boulianne, the short film follows the story of a 15-year-old Inuit who dreams of hip-hop like Rich E. Murdoch, an American rapper he admires.

The winners of the night shared nearly $ 300,000 in scholarships.
