Michael Bolton He is one of the most successful singers of recent decades, with hits such as mega-ballads How can I live without You AND When a man loves a woman.
He is currently 70 years old and still very active with touring and recording, but now he has just surprised fans with some really tough news: revealed that he underwent emergency surgery to remove a brain tumor and that’s why he obviously canceled his upcoming tour dates.
The singer posted on Instagram that he discovered the tumor late last year, which forced him to take immediate action. “Shortly before the holidays it was discovered that I had a brain tumor that required immediate surgery,” he wrote.
“Thanks to my incredible medical team, the surgery was a success. I am now recovering at home and surrounded by the enormous love and support of my family.”
Suspended ride
Bolton was due to tour in early February, with international dates planned throughout the year. But he says it they need time to recover from surgeryhoping to improve to resume live performances.
“Over the next few months I will dedicate time and energy to my recovery, which means I will have to take a temporary break from touring,” he said.
“It is always the hardest thing for me to disappoint my fans or postpone a concert, but I have no doubt that I am working hard to speed up my recovery and return to performing soon. I am extremely grateful for all the love and support you have so generously shown me over the years. Please know that I hold your positive messages in my heart and will give you further updates as soon as I can.”
A successful career
Throughout his career, Michael Bolton he has sold more than 65 million records worldwide and added nine number one singles and ten albums respectively.
On record and live, he has performed with the likes of Patti LaBelle, José Carreras, Ray Charles, Celine Dion, Plácido Domingo, BB King, Luciano Pavarotti, Percy Sledge and Zucchero.
Last July it was launched Sparkle of light, his first album of his own songs in nearly 15 years. Outside of music, he has competed on the television show The Masked Singer in both 2021 and 2023, and last year he appeared as a guest in two episodes of the series Awkwafina is Nora from Queens.
