Selena Gomez has been confirmed as the protagonist of the film about the life of the Mexican-American singer-songwriter Linda Ronstadtconsidered the first Latin woman to succeed in music in English.
Although not many details have emerged at the moment, a publication on Instagram by Gómez herself has hinted that the story will follow Ronstadt’s autobiographical stages and the title used for the biopic is Simple dreams (Simple dreams).
The story will be based on a book published in 2013 (Feel like at home), a bestseller that chronicles the life of the artist born to a Mexican-American family in Tucson, Arizona.
According to the trade press, the film will be directed by Ronstadt’s manager, John Boylan, and director James Keach, who also produced the documentary in 2019. Linda Ronstadt: The sound of my voicewhich can be seen on Prime Video.
From the beginning of her career, Ronstadt has defended her Latin roots and included Mexican music in her repertoire, although she is best known for her rock, folk and country songs.
