The relationship between La Renga and the current President of the Argentine Republic Javier Milei It’s been hard for a long time now. And yesterday, Thursday, during the band’s third concert at the Racing Stadium, had a new chapter.
The unrest between the Mataderos group and Milei began when the libertarian began using the argument Panic showwith specially adapted texts, for their political campaigns.
The first time he did it was at Parque Lezama, in 2021, during the ceremony with which he closed the campaign that helped him to be elected deputy.
Changing the original letter of Panic show, Javier Milei sang: “Hello everyone, I’m the lion, the beast roared in the middle of the avenue, the race ran, without understanding, a show of panic in broad daylight. I am a king of a lost world. I am the king, I will destroy you, the whole caste is my appetite”.
From then on, given the success that the idea had among his followers, Javier Milei made this sui generis version of Panic Show his workhorse.
At one point, La Renga released a statement on their social networks expressing their opposition to Milei’s continued use of the song.
“Whoever wants is free to listen, sing, dance and play the songs of the Renga, what is wrong, legally and morally, is to take the freedom to use those songs for a political campaign and for personal advantage, a follower of our band he would never do that.”, we read in the text that La Renga appropriately posted on Instagram.
“There are bonds and feelings between us, we don’t want someone disguised as a friend to talk about freedom”, concludes the band’s statement.
But the economist turned a deaf ear and not only began his electoral speeches with her, but also did the same in his first speech as Argentine president, on 10 December.
La Renga’s very harsh message for Javier Milei: “The lion wants to eat the race…”
Currently La Renga is doing a series of concerts at the Racing stadium. In the first two presentations, Panic show It wasn’t part of the concert.
But yesterday, Thursday 11 January, the third time was the charm: the band not only did not avoid performing the song that caused so many problems for the current president of the Argentine Republic, but added to the song a message particularly dedicated to Javier Milei.
In the middle of the musical theme, singer Gustavo Chizzo Nápoli shouted: “Attention, Javier. The lion wants to eat the stingray and it turns out that they are all next to youThe Renga audience, obviously, burst into applause.
