The success of “Succession”
Succession was nominated for more 2024 Emmy Awards than any other show, with a total of 27.
Published in June 2018, Succession revolves around family Logan Roy (played by Scotsman Brian Cox): a media mogul and his four sons, shareholders eager to inherit the throne.
Three of Logan Roy’s character’s children in “Succession”: Kendall, Shiv and Roman.Already in the first seasons, when Kendall (Jeremy Strong) tries on the dress and manners of his father’s successor, and when he turns 80, instead of announcing his departure, Logan confirms that he will continue to lead the empire, turning every previous promise into confetti.
This is the trigger for a thrilling argument to which Connor (the eldest son retired from the family business), Shiv (the daughter who works as a political consultant) e Romanthe youngest, constantly competing with Kendall for his father’s attention.
Of all the drugs the characters consume as part of their life cycle of entertainment and dissatisfaction, power is the most captivating and ultimately becomes the only common language they understand and traffic in.
The big question this year isn’t whether Succession will win in his farewell, but exactly who will win. Sarah “Shiv” Snook, a two-time Supporting Actress nominee, seems to be a favorite for her first opportunity as lead actressand you should get some gold on the night of delivery.
Matthew Macfadyen just won a Golden Globe and is now another Emmy nominee for “Succession.” Photo: Reuters. The race for supporting actor it came down to a previous winner: Matthew “Tom” MacFadyen, whose character arguably had his best season yet. He is Shiv’s husband and the big surprise of the final episode.
There is also Alexander Skarsgård, already the winner of a different show (Little big lies), who plays tech billionaire Lukas Matsson here.
As for Supporting actressJ. Smith-Cameron (attorney Gerri Kellman) can’t even be ruled out though Succession leads the ranking, although it may be a category in which The White Lotus, another show on the same network, gets an award for Jennifer. Coolidge.
And then there’s the matter of best actor. Half of the six Emmy nominees in the category belong to Successionwith Jeremy Strong as the previous winner, Brian Cox a two-time nominee and Kieran Culkin a newcomer to the field, having previously competed, like Sarah Snook, in the support category.
Also like Snook, Culkin wins. Due to the unranked winner-take-all voting system, there is also a small chance of this happening The last of us get a big upset here, with Pedro Pascal sneaking in between three Roys splitting the votes.
