Platform defends change for having the same value since 2019 even with investments
Amazon Prime Video announced this Tuesday (3) that its subscription will be more expensive from May 20 in Brazil.
The monthly subscription package, traditionally offered for R$9.90, will now cost R$14.90, while the annual option will increase from R$89 to R$119.
The change will apply to those who subscribe to the platform from the date informed. While those who already have a Prime Video plan will be charged for the change from the first account after June 24th.
In an official statement, the streaming attributed the price increase to investments made in original content, citing international titles such as “The Boys”, “A Roda do Tempo”, “Um Príncipe em Nova York 2”, as well as Brazilian productions such as “Dom”, “Manhãs de Setembro” ” and “Released in Floripa”.
“The program has been the same price since it was launched in 2019, even with all the investments to make Amazon Prime more and more valuable to our members in Brazil. As benefits expand and general operating costs increase, we will be increasing the monthly fee on May 20, 2022“, declares the statement.
