More than Retirement plan this action comedy starring Nicolas Cage might as well be called escape plan. And no, it’s not the spectators who escape, but two characters who have to escape.

And yes, they are related to the role played by Cage, since he is the actor Back side AND Goodbye to Las Vegas He is the father and grandfather of Ashley (played by Ashley Greene) and Sarah (Thalia Campbell), respectively.

When both are chased into a situation that puts their lives at risk, Ashley turns to the only person she believes can help her: her father Matt (Cage). They haven’t seen, spoken to or written to each other for years. He lives almost like a bum, but a retired bum in the Cayman Islands…

So he sends his 11-year-old granddaughter first. Ashley, like the viewers, has no idea that Matt was a hitman.

When Ashley arrives, the reunion will be fleeting, as they are soon located on the island by crime boss Donnie (Jackie Earle Haley) and his lieutenant Bobo (Ron Perlmann), who had already worked with Cage Witch hunt). Meanwhile, Ashley, Sarah and Matt become caught in an increasingly dangerous web.

All for a USB memory.

It doesn’t matter that the bad guys are like an army and some have super exploited bodies. Matt is smarter than all of them, together or separately. If the saying Better skill than strength it was true, Retirement plan would serve as a sample.

The rest of the film is Cage, as the murderous grandfather, killing the bad guys. The number of bodies is almost impossible to remember, but the vast majority of criminals are killed one by one and with a different weapon.

As an action comedy, Retirement plan It has more action than comedy. Cage doesn’t fool himself in one of his six 2023 films.

Nicolas Cage and some crazy dialogues

AS, Retirement plan it can be fun if what you’re expecting is an action-packed murder series, but with really bad dialogue. It’s unclear whether he does it on purpose or not.

There are several more or less famous actors, in addition to Cage, such as the seventy-year-old Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddmore in The Ghostbusters), or Joel David Moore (Avatars), or Jackie Earle Haley (sometimes nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for intimate secretss, with Kate Winslet and Jennifer Connelly).

Yet, nothing and no one has respite.

In short: a somewhat repeated plot, horror dialogues, lots of action and a bit of comedy. If the combo closes, it’s your weekend movie.
