“Let the Canary Sing” will be produced by Sony Music Entertainment
Cindy Lauper will win a documentary that promises to explore the more than three decades of the singer’s career. Titled “Let the Canary Sing”, the feature is already in production by Sony Music Entertainment.
Alison Ellwood will direct, she has worked on documentaries about the band The Go-Go’s in addition to the film “Women of Troy”, which explores the impact of Cheryl Miller in women’s basketball.
“Like many people, I assumed when Cyndi Lauper entered the music scene in the early 1980s, that she was another young star experiencing a meteoric rise to fame and success thanks to MTV.“, he said ellwood to Variety.
“Their music videos were wild and colorful, their songs like ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun’ were infectious. But, as it turns out, her story is one of hard knocks, hard work and dogged determination. Cyndi I wanted your voice not only to be heard, but a voice to be heard.“, declared the director.
