Recording sets and stages, these are the two places where Lola Poggio (17) always wanted to be. At just 9 months old he made his first advertisement and since then he has grown up in front of the cameras: she played Adrián Suar’s daughter in the soap opera Only you (2013) e He put himself in the shoes of Mirtha and Goldie Legrand ATAV (Argentina, land of love and revenge, 2019).
Recently, the young actress went to Fuerza Bruta’s AVEN show and was part of “Go Broadway”an intensive program training artists in New York, United States.
Julieta Poggio’s sister began taking musical comedy lessons at age six, as she had always done “it incorporated the desire to dance, sing and act.”
“I knew I wanted to do this for as long as I can remember.”Lola clarified, in conversation with Clarion.
The artist assured that his parents, Patricia Destefani and Julián Poggio, had done so a fundamental role in his artistic training and in the first steps of his career.
“I was encouraged by them. It’s a privilege that they supported me in everything and I really appreciate it because they took me to classes and also to every casting,” he said.
Lola is a young woman of many interests. Indeed, to show all her talent on stage, she has decided to incorporate other disciplines such as artistic gymnastics and fabric, but when it is time to relax she chooses pastry making.
“I do it at dawn when no one is home because of the hours it takes”said the artist, who was sincere and spoke of her desire to pursue a gastronomic career.
-You were in New York to take part in the Broadway show Go… What led you to pack your suitcase to take part in that experience?
-As soon as I discovered the program I knew I wanted to do it. I met the creator, Valentina Verger, at the premiere of Coqueluche, a play in which Julieta starred, and she told me about it. I knew about it before because I had an acquaintance who had done it, but when I met Valen he reminded me of it and that made me want to encourage myself. I feel like seeing art outside of the country is eye-opening.
-How was the weather in New York? Have you seen any shows on Broadway?
-I had two three-hour classes a day covering vocal technique, acting, theater dance and even Broadway history… The first one started at 10 in the morning until 1 in the afternoon. So I had lunch there because from 2pm to 5pm I had the next class and in the evening we watched musicals, like Mouline Rouge, Back to the Future, Chicago AND Evil, or we did tourism.
-Would you like to try your luck by continuing your artistic career abroad?
-I would like. I always said that if I immigrated, I would go to the United States. It’s a dream, but I also love my country and the theater of Buenos Aires. I love Calle Corrientes. The truth is that I would like to work abroad but I love Argentina and I’m looking for job opportunities here. Wherever I am, I want to dedicate myself to art because it is the driving force of my life.
-Now that you’re back in Argentina, what are you currently working on?
-My sister and I are preparing a program for children and teenagers. There are a lot of dance and singing rehearsals because it will be musical. This excited me. The idea is that this new project takes the same format as “Amor Propio” (from series to play) and, if successful, brings it to the stage during the winter holidays.
-Regarding the impact Big Brother has brought on your sister’s life. What is your position?
-Everything is an opportunity and I believe in it reality It was like a stepping stone that pushed Julieta and gave her the exposure she needed as an artist, because she has been training since she was four years old.
-And in yours? Has your time in the program influenced you?
-It was a shock for the whole family that Julieta was so exposed and had her opinion on what was happening in my house, my sister’s relationship and the bond she has with my parents. They talked about everything and you feel like your privacy is being stolen, but I guess that’s part of it. Being exposed since I was a child, I learned that negative opinion doesn’t matter. It was harder when it was Julieta’s turn. They criticized her and she couldn’t defend herself because she didn’t even know it. This created a lot of helplessness in me.
-Would you dare to participate in the reality?
-How to cheer me up It cheers me up but I don’t know if I choose it. I don’t know if I would like to go to the bathroom and know that I have a camera filming. A week sounds like fun to me but I don’t know if I would tolerate isolation for that long.
-You worked with Adrián Suar in the soap opera “Solamente vos”. How did this opportunity arise?
-They called me for a fusion because they had seen me in an advertisement with Facundo Arana and so it happened. At that time, for me, acting was like playing a family, I was happy to do the novel. For that work I was nominated for the Martín Fierro Revelación and I feel I was lucky that that project appeared in my life. I’m feeling lucky.
-What memories do you have of that experience?
-I always say that Adrián Suar is the best teacher I could have had. Experience teaches more than lessons and working with him was improvisational. It is very important to know how to solve these kinds of challenges and I consider him to be my best teacher, from whom I learned the most about acting.
-You also played Mirtha Legrand and her sister Goldie in ATAV (Argentina, Tierra de Amor y Venganza)
-Being part of that project was a real experience. It was a great responsibility to play Mirtha Legrand. Embodying a figure is not the same as composing a character from scratch, so to prepare I consulted with a coach for a few weeks and fortunately everything went well. I’m grateful to have had that space to do what I love on television.
-Last year you participated in six shows at Fuerza Bruta. How did you prepare to face that challenge on stage?
-My time at Fuerza Bruta is something I haven’t fallen in love with yet. I had five rehearsals for the six shows so I was nervous but once I was able to feel confident I started to enjoy it. Plus the show has an incredible human group who taught me the choreography and supported me in everything.
