Tenor Marc Hervieux replaces contralto Marie-Nicole Lemieux as ambassador of the Domaine Forget de Charlevoix, whose International Music Festival will be held from June 25 to August 20. This 44at the edition will be the last for its artistic director, Paul Fortin, to develop a program that brings together some of the artists who have most fascinated him during his 11-year mandate.
The opening concert will take the form of a tribute to Joseph Rouleau, a Quebec opera singer who died in 2019, who is closely associated with the festival. Marc Hervieux will take part in the event, as will soprano Marianne Fiset, bass Alain Coulombe and pianists Marie-Ève Scarfone and Charles Richard-Hamelin.
Marc Hervieux said he feels chills just mentally have a normal summer, i.e., to rediscover a pre-pandemic festive exuberance. And about prosperity, the singer said Quebecers have traveled more within the provincial borders over the past two years, and the Charlevoix region is particularly popular with tourists.

In addition to the tribute concert, Marc Hervieux will perform at Arts Without Borders weekend, one of the festival’s flagship events showcasing a variety of music styles.
On August 6, he will sing with Florence K, Laurence Jalbert and the Orchester symphonique de Québec. The ensemble will be directed by Simon Leclerc, a regular in hybrid instrumentation, he who has already adapted to the music of Cœur de pirate, Simple Plan, Rufus Wainwright or Harmonium in a symphonic setting.
On the same day a somewhat unusual show will take place, where Audrey Gaussiran will dance a mixed flamenco, influenced by public text messages.
On August 5, Domaine Forget artists in residence will join internationally renowned Quebec pianist Marc-André Hamelin, who will perform some of his own works, as well as Bach and Beethoven.
The weekend will end with a free outdoor concert featuring Ariane Moffatt and a sound supergroup of friendshipmade up of musicians he had been with at the beginning of his career.
Master classes
Big names in classical music will be leading masterclasses this summer for students at the International Academy of Music and Dance in Domaine Forget.
These are free workshops open to the public in which Quebec pianist Alain Lefèvre, Israeli violinist Vadim Gluzman, Orchester Métropolitain (OM) conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Franco-Swiss flautist Emmanuel Pahud will participate. .
The latter, who will be OM’s soloist in residence for the 2022-2023 season, will take the stage at Charlevoix along with several air instrumentalists to perform pieces by Rimski-Korsakov, Schumann, Saint-Saëns and Poulenc.
It should be noted that Marc Hervieux contributed to the support of the youth of the Academy at the beginning of his career, about thirty years ago, by participating in fundraising concerts in Charlevoix for scholarships.
To close the festival, Domaine Forget will call on the chamber orchestra Les Violons du Roy as well as soloists Karina Gauvin, Jean-François Lapointe and Marie-Nicole Lemieux, its former ambassador.
