Ross Lynch He took his first steps in television when he was very young. At the age of 15 he was already the protagonist of a him series, Austin and Allywhich was broadcast by Disney Channel. As usually happens with the channel’s teenage stars, the Disney boys and girls, she soon took the lead role in the musical film Teen movie on the beach, whose success was so great that it had a sequel.
Now, with his band The era of the chauffeurwill sing Lollapalooza 2024 Saturday 16 March and they will do a sideshow two days earlier, the 14th, at the Vorterix Theater.
During his golden years on the small screen, Ross Lynch appeared in some of today’s most acclaimed children’s and teen programs, such as Jessie AND Violet, the Argentine series on the children’s television network, with Tini Stoessel as the protagonist.
Before he started acting, Ross was already making music. Parallel to his life as a Disney star, he formed a band with three of his brothers, which they called R5. Their success in Argentina was so great that they came on tour three times. But time passed, the band broke up, and Ross joined his brother Rocky to start a new project for two.
Together they formed The Driver Era, the band with which they continued to drive fans crazy. In 2022, they visited the country for the first time with this new proposition, and made waves with two shows where if there was anything left over, it was the energy.
Next week they will return to Argentina, but with a new challenge at hand: they will perform for the first time at Lollapalooza Argentina on Saturday 16 March, in front of a large audience. But they won’t be leaving behind the opportunity to see their long-time fans up close, with a show at the Vorterix Theater on Thursday 14th.
The brothers come with everything, to prove that they are up to the biggest festival in the country, and they spoke exclusively with Clarion about his previous experiences in Argentina, his upcoming projects and Ross and Lali Espósito romance rumors.

-In Argentina they love them and, after two years, they will finally return next week. Are you looking forward to meeting your fans again?
Ross: Absolutely. It’s surreal that it’s happening so quickly. I can’t believe we will be in Argentina next week. Everything happened very quickly and it is difficult to finish processing. But I’m definitely excited, to be there and see everyone and play some music, it’s going to be great.
Rocky: I can’t believe it happened so fast either, I didn’t realize it was already next week.
-What does it feel like to play in front of a passionate and noisy audience like the Argentine one?
Ross: It is funny. They honestly make our job easy.
Rocky: Yes, it is absolutely ideal for a musician. It’s wonderful every time we go.
The Driver Era had already been presented in our country in 2022.-This will be a different experience than the last one they had, because they will be performing at Lollapalooza. Are you excited to play such a big festival where there will be people hearing your music for the first time?
Ross: It’s a dream come true to play Lollapalooza. We love performing at festivals. It’s very satisfying to go on stage knowing that half the audience doesn’t know you and then, halfway through your presentation, to see them super engaged. Let them dance, sing and have fun. It’s really rewarding to win people over. We love festivals and the atmosphere they have. We’re big fans too. We want to see other bands and have as much fun as possible. It will be an amazing trip.
-The Lollapalooza show will be different than yours sideshow in the Vortex?
Ross: A little, but we also like to make it clear that we have an identity, which has to do with spontaneity and fun. We always try to be ourselves. We want to show people what our band stands for in the time we have.
Focused on music
-His new song “Get Off My Phone” talks about how difficult the process of getting over someone after a breakup is. Have any of you been through this recently?
Ross: The song is inspired by a real moment. Breakups are very difficult. It is against our biology to separate from someone. Because we are tribal animals. So in our brain we should stick together to survive. When this disconnect occurs, it is uncomfortable and sad. The phone tends to bring back memories. This can, in a way, aggravate an emotional wound. This is what the song is inspired by. And I think that’s a pretty common experience nowadays. I hope that if anyone is going through this experience they can find some relief in the song.
This is Ross and Rocky Lynch’s fifth visit to Argentina. The top three were with R5.-Is this single some kind of clue as to how your new album will sound?
Rocky: No, we can never repeat something we have done. It’s impossible. Even in interviews, we may be asked the same question ten times in a row, and each time a new answer emerges. It’s almost like a new beginning. This is how we make music. If I listen to 20 of our demos right now, they each sound different, like they’re from 20 different artists. The composition process is different every time. I always say it the formula is that there is no formula.
-Ross, you became famous as an actor at Disney. Do you ever want to act again or are you happy just making music?
Ross: I was literally thinking about it. If I think about it quickly, I’m happy with just music. But I’m not sure. I’m already dedicating a lot of my time to work. It’s hard to think about adding even more work to this. I’m pretty sure there’s more to life than working all the time. I’d like to act a bit, it sounds like fun. But I don’t like the audition process. I think that’s a false way of doing things. This is part of the problem. Since I don’t like this process, I don’t start it myself. I don’t act simply because I don’t like auditioning. We’ll see what happens later.
-And you, Rocky, have you ever wanted to dedicate yourself to acting?
Rocky: When we first got to Los Angeles, we all started auditioning for commercials, but I didn’t really care. Little by little I stopped doing it, until I completely gave it up. But I always joke that maybe when I’m 60 I’ll want to play a grandfather in a movie.
Ross: I think Rocky would be a great actor, he has a lot of potential.

-The last time you were here, photos of you in clubs in Buenos Aires appeared that revolutionized the networks and became a trend on Twitter. Did you have fun in the Argentine night?
Ross: Yes, absolutely. The people we worked with, the Argentinian promoters, were very fun. I don’t think I’ve ever had that experience before, hanging out with the local promoter. We got on well with the team as soon as we arrived and had a great time.
-Did you like the music?
Ross: Both the music and the energy of the place were really different from what we knew. But we really liked everything. After all, it’s a club where you dance, drink and have fun, that’s for sure. But somehow everything, even that, is different when you travel.
The last time The Driver Era came to the country, brothers Ross and Rocky enjoyed the night in Buenos Aires and caused a sensation at the bowling alley. -Many artists fall in love with Argentine gastronomy when they visit us. Did you like it?
Rocky: First of all we have to say that we love trying new things. And for me one of the best experiences in life is going out to dinner. Sitting and feeling the atmosphere of the different restaurants is amazing. All you have to do is grab the table and a couple of friends to share. We tried a few things last time we went and now we want to continue discovering many more.
Ross: We love the world of gastronomy in general. And much more if you share it with the people you love. Obviously we can’t wait to live that experience that we enjoyed so much in Argentina.
Was there a love story between Ross and Lali?
The members of The Driver Era recognize themselves as festival fans and want to listen to Argentine artists. In 2023, Fans of Lali and Ross noticed that they both started following each other on Instagram. A short time later they exchanged several pleases in her posts and Ross began joining Lali’s live broadcasts on social networks. Of course, it didn’t take long for romance rumors to surface. But neither had spoken publicly about the topic. Until now.
-Ross, you and Lali follow each other on Instagram and have liked many of her posts. Do you know her in person?
Ross: I’ve been listening to his music and it’s really amazing. I’ve never met her in person. I don’t even remember how we started talking on Instagram or why. But we exchanged a couple of messages and got along really well.
Rocky: What did you talk about? Tell us…
Ross: I honestly don’t remember, it was a while ago. All I know is that he seems like a great person. The last time we spoke, I remember he was leaving for Tel Aviv.
Ross Lynch had a virtual relationship with Lali Espósito, but never met her in person. Were they in a relationship?
Ross: No, because I’ve never had the chance to meet her in person and I’m against online dating. It works for some people who meet online and even get married, and I think that’s great. But for me in particular I like meeting people in person, find out what his vibe is and see if we really get along. Because sometimes you talk to someone on Instagram, you think you get along really well and then when you meet that person it’s not at all what you thought. And that world is definitely not for me.
