Travel. This is what he is currently dedicated to Gonzalo Vázquez (31), the former reporter of Intruders (América TV) which left the signal on January 31st after nearly a decade of countless interviews and cell phones with the most important characters of the show.
What started out as a hobby After the COVID-19 pandemic, it picked up steam as a work project during a trip to Europe with the family of his girlfriend, Agustina Lucero, last year. It was then that Gonzalo He knew it was time to throw down the can, leave the comfort zone and be his own boss..
And so he left Let’s go back to television journalism bet on his dream of visiting new cultures anywhere on the map.
Although making the decision to change the course of his life wasn’t easy. “America was my home, I was there for 8 years and I’m grateful for that They bet on me and gave me a place“, says Gonzalo, in dialogue with Clarion from a paradise beach in Cancun, Mexico.
Without knowing it, the channel has done much more for him than simply opening the doors of entertainment and communication for him. “Everything has to do with everything because if it wasn’t for America I would never have met her.”Vázquez is honest, recalling his coverage at the 2019 Martín Fierro Awards, where he met Agustina, his partner, with whom he is currently traveling the world.
Since they posted their first video on YouTube (@gonzadeviaje), in 2021, The pair have amassed nearly 40,000 subscribers with 207 videos shot across the globe. They shared their experiences in international destinations such as France, Spain, Italy and Mexico, as well as in several tourist locations in Argentina.
-At what moment did you realize that you wanted to complete your experience in “Intruders”?
-The most crucial moment was the pandemic. I was on leave due to diabetes as it was a high risk disease and I worked from home for a year. The channel was very useful for me because I still received my salary but I had time to think… And with Agus we understood that we wanted to do something different, invest in ourselves. We wanted to get started.
-How did the idea of traveling in isolation come about?
-At that time we couldn’t go out let alone travel, but somehow we started watching videos of other people who had traveled and we asked ourselves: if they could make that content and the business was profitable, it could be profitable for us too .
-And when did this new adventure on YouTube begin?
-We shot the first one in December 2021, and from then on, we try to work on it every day. In fact, we uploaded 3 to 4 videos that month, which is a considerable amount considering we are in charge of producing the material.
-What was the reaction of your family and friends when they learned of your decision?
-They supported us. The reception was good, although sometimes it happens that when you work in this, many believe that everything is a party and requires a lot of effort like any other source of work, but it has the advantage of entrepreneurship: you are your own boss and manage your schedule with all the pressures what does it entail, but we are very happy with what we are generating.
-Was there anyone in your closest circle who encouraged or helped you take this important step?
-My father in law. He told us: “When I have my birthday I want you to come with me on a trip to Europe so you can continue generating content.” So we took that trip in April of last year. We spent Easter there, saw the Pope and collected a lot of material.
-How did you agree with your girlfriend to start leaving “Intruders” behind?
-We have always been clear that we wanted to dedicate ourselves to this but it was a project that had to mature and it is something that only time and perseverance give you. As we strengthened the foundations, I continued with America but there came a time when we had to decide to invest more than we were already investing in the project.
-Have you made a list of pros and cons when considering the possibility of quitting your job to risk realizing your dream?
-I would say in favor of the time because with the few hours we had invested we were doing well. And now that I’m not there anymore Intruders it’s much easier to generate content. On the other, the feeling of instability because you don’t always earn the same amount. The same amount of money doesn’t always come, but I think knowing how to reinvent yourself is very good because I’ve gone from performing to traveling and telling stories.
-Now you are in Mexico… What is the next destination?
-Now we are in Playacar, Riviera Maya, in a hotel called Viva Wyndham and we have come to show what the experience of staying in a hotel is like. All included Here. And then we go to Bariloche. Our next destination will be Argentina. In principle it would be the Cascades and then there will be the other provinces.

The journalist left the program after seven years: “I’m leaving my home.”
-What material is the most chosen by your audience on YouTube?
-We include a lot of content from Buenos Aires because it works for us because there are a lot of people interested in knowing what is happening in Argentina, how to get around here and what is happening with the dollar issue.
–Regarding the economic aspect, is it worth uploading content to the platform nowadays?
-It’s a profitable business as long as you work hard. Today we have almost 40 thousand subscribers after two years and if we didn’t have them, the agreements we make with the hotel chains would not come to fruition. Thanks to this we have been able to conclude contracts, for example, in Budapest and in different locations in the country, such as Iguazú, Bariloche or Buenos Aires.
-How do you decide the length of stay in the different destinations you visit?
-The times depend on where we go and the agreement we make. We try to generate content by uploading two or three videos a week and we prioritize quality to make a difference, because that’s what the brand and us need too. As for the tickets, it also depends on the agreement because each hotel chain has its representative in the country but sometimes we invest in him returning later.
-When you edit videos, do you work alone or do you have a team that takes care of it? Is there an economic investment in this?
-We take care of the material with editing programs because we are not in the hiring phase but we are evaluating it for when we reach 200 thousand subscribers. Not before.
-What is the destination you would like to visit? And what would they show in the videos?
-Egypt because when you go to that type of destination you can show the flight from Buenos Aires, the places to visit and also how the people live. The culture is very interesting. People like to know what they can find at the supermarket or what a camel ride is like. If you travel to the other side of the world just to make a video of the pyramids, you will lose like in war because it is not profitable.
– Do you dream of having a travel program on television?
-This YouTube channel is a joint project with my partner so TV is not a priority because we have a lot of growing to do. If the opportunity presents itself, we want to do it well and that takes time, but we won’t leave YouTube because it’s the present and the future. Brands invest a lot in platforms and even more so when the contents concern tourism.
– Would you like to work on TV again as an entertainment journalist or is it already a thing of the past?
-I would never rule out going back to doing something I like to do because it really interests me. When I was a child, all my friends wanted to be footballers and I wanted to be a journalist, and I succeeded. But sometimes you need to know how much to invest in yourself.
