Mirtha Legrand described this Monday as Javier Milei’s attitude is “unpleasant” to share a message on the networks that suggested the driver purchase the Gaumont Cinemaafter publicly asking that it not be closed.
“It doesn’t apply. It was simply an opinion, it didn’t mean I bought the cinema. It’s ridiculous“, questioned Legrand, who last Saturday, during his programme, spoke out about cutting the budget for culture, which includes the possibility of closing the Gaumont, and asked: “How much will it cost to maintain the Gaumont cinema? It’s awful”.
In a telephone conversation I had Monday afternoon with Diego Perez inside City channelLegrand added: “I’m a little afraid to express myself, because if everything you say, if the government doesn’t like it very much, or if it bothers anyone, they will scold you. That’s disgusting.”
He did this after Milei joined a proposal launched online by Julio Burdman to resolve the future of the conflicting room. “What a great gesture it would be for Mirtha to buy Gaumontthat it be renamed Cine GAUMONT-LEGRAND and that it only screens Argentine films,” the political scientist suggested.

In Mirtha’s Night, the guest entered into the conflict over culture.
“I was very surprised when they reacted that way.. I don’t know if they were people for or against the government”, admitted the host of La Noche de Mirtha, a program in which the Gaumont issue and the INCAA adjustments were discussed last Saturday.
Finally, Legrand launched a surprising phrase, taking into account the ideological sympathy he has shown more than once towards Milei, whom he also interviewed several times last year, before and after becoming president.
“I don’t want to be against this governmentbecause they react immediately and it’s unpleasant,” he said.
What a great gesture it would be if Mirtha bought the Gaumont, renamed it Cine GAUMONT-LEGRAND and screened only Argentine films. A goal that would exalt her, and that would contribute to changing the bad image that Argentines have of their cultural references https://t.co/co9z7uNm1f

Last week a demonstration by cultural workers took place in front of the historic cinema, to protest against the adjustments of the INCAA and other bodies in the sector, as well as the possible closure of Gaumont.
The protest was attended by artists such as Leonardo Sbaraglia, Mirta Busnelli and Víctor Laplace, and left-wing militants such as Eduardo Bellibioni and Gabriel Solano, respectively of the Polo Obrero and the Partido Obrero en el Frente de Izquierda.
Three people were arrested after the clashes and two police officers were injured, in an afternoon of pushing, insults and tear gas. The protesters, however, reported that a motorist hit a person.

Demonstrators clashed with police outside the legendary factory to protest INCAA cuts.
Although the discontent had lasted for months, the recall ended up taking shape with the resolution published in the Official Journal which provided for the cancellation of all INCAA contracts expiring on March 31, the suspension of overtime payments and the removal of economic support for the provinces , among others.
Furthermore, the delegates of the INCAA union had been informed the previous week that the Cine.ar platform would be closed and that the Gaumont cinema would be put up for sale.
