“I felt the foot and laughed so hard, just like they asked me to,” Glaudini said. “And Johnny Depp, when they said cut, he came up to me, he put his finger in my face and said, ‘Who the fuck do you think you are?’ Shut your damn mouth, I’m here and I’m trying to say my lines! You damn idiot! Oh, now it’s not so funny anymore and can you just shut the fuck up? As silent as you are now, that’s how you stay.

Glaudini said this happened on his first day on set and that he had not met Depp: “This was my first studio film; Until then he had only made independent films. And I have the star that I idolized, that I’m so excited to work with, screaming in my face. The only thing that was going through my head was, ‘Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry.'”

The actress recalled that Depp approached her later and gave her an “unrepentant apology,” saying, “Before I’m really in my head and staying in character, I’m doing this Boston accent, which is really messing me up. So I’m a little tense and stuff. So I just wanted to make sure we were okay and everything.

He continued: “I looked at it and thought, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about. Sure, what are you talking about? It’s okay’ Because I was remembering what dad says: ‘Don’t ever let them see you sweat.’ So that was it.

Glaudini also noted that Demme, who died in 2002, did not apologize to her after the incident: “The director didn’t come to say anything,” making her feel “totally abandoned.”

“When we finished filming, I was like an outcast,” she added. “No one wanted to talk to me, because I was the bitch they criticized.”
