The offer is not new. Fiction and reality are debated with a magnifying glass every time a story of biographical caliber hits the streaming screen. And that’s not exactly the case Coppola, the representativethe successful series inspired by the frenetic life of Diego Maradona’s former manager – supported by the characteristic anecdotes of its protagonist – a territory foreign to new battle fronts.
More than a week after its premiere, the reach of the first series of “Guillote”, available on Star+ with 6 episodes of 45 minutes each, continues to attract followers who keep it at the top. But the same drive that makes fiction the protagonist Juan Minujin -narratively and aesthetically impeccable under the direction of Ariel Winograd– It sprinkles controversy in the intimate environment of Coppola in the flesh.
A dynamized road complaints, media anger and public denials on TV inaugurated by some of the women in his liferepresented in different periods of fiction.
On the train of victims -and in order of appearance in the series- Amalia “Yuyito” González, Coppola’s ex-wife and mother of his daughter Barbara was one of the first to be planted. Represented by Monica Antonópulos -from someone who doesn’t oppose even a comma on a compositional level- the Yuyito of the fiction stars one of the harshest scenes of the plot which the iconic former star categorically denies.
“The world of the royal family parallels the show”clarifies “Yuyito” a Clarion a few days after having digested that crude shot in which, halfway through the first chapter, Coppola’s screenplay “light-heartedly” suggests she terminate the pregnancy.
“What hurt me the most was the way they dealt with it. More than shocking me, it was painful. If they had told about my pregnancy I would have preferred the truth, because it is a memory forever and tomorrow my granddaughter will see it”, he says after his daughter, a 36-year-old architect, also spoke on the topic but without complaints..
“Knowing that he understood that it was fake puts me at ease. Barbara talked about it with her father.the one who loves and knows the love he has for her. We were happy from the moment the doctor gives Guillermo the positive result and passes it on to me with tears and a toast that we made in private”, corrects Amalia.
And he closes the letter of complaints with another scripted “detail”. “I was shocked by my character’s swearing towards Guillermo. Then you process it over the days and I found that fun too. But What I highlight most is the interpretation of “Mona” and her impeccable characterization: the gestures, the self-confidence and the voice, which came out the same,” clarifies the iconic bombshell of the 80s that she gave consent to her image, but remained unaware of the scripts.
“I don’t want to fill myself with information or connect with situations that don’t serve me because they’re in the past. I continue with my real life, which is family,” says host Yuyito, no intention of doing a marathon or finishing the series.
On the dislike scale, that of the former star Alejandra Pradon crowned the podium of the week’s media anger. Although his name has not been in the headlines for a long time, Her “unhappy” appearance in the series as Maradona’s alleged lover sparked internal anger.

With Juan Minujín as the protagonist, it is a Star+ production.
Recreating the famous magazine cover where she is seen with Diego in the car, The fiction suggests that her relationship with Coppola was just a screen to hide a forbidden romance with the Ten in front of the press. “I didn’t like anything. I called Claudia Villafañe to explain to her that it was all a lie. They can’t dirty people like that.”, Pradón dumped in a television note, after Coppola himself confirmed his version.
“I have messages from Alejandra thanking me. Telling me that she never doubted that I would tell the truth. I also think that there are things that, sometimes, even come in handy… It’s not that Pradón was active. AND, suddenly people started talking about it“, shot “Guillote” in dialogue with Clarion.
And to dispel any doubt he clarified: “Pradon went out with me. So fiction creates fiction. Diego’s thing didn’t exist. But suppose he had existed… Would I speak? “Whoever thinks this doesn’t know me, they would never talk about third parties.”
Another woman in the aforementioned fiction is Adabel Guerrero. She revealed the actress behind the role of Pradón (in her series debut). Clarion having waited for the first one with the alarm on. “I kind of saw it coming. But Even though Alejandra asked me what that would entail, I couldn’t contractually say.“said Adabel, future figure of the series Cris Miro– running on empty. “I am an actress and I understand that it is not a biopic but part of a fiction. But also I put myself in your shoes and I understand your statement. It’s within your rights“, he adds.
The foam of controversy rises
But the foam didn’t go down. And also the women exempted from appearing in the first season of the series (there is already talk of a second), as Maria Fernanda Callejonthey were part of the personal file that shook Coppola’s sentimental dossier on TV.
“They evoke themes from yesterday, from 30 years ago and do nothing but make the series transcend in a remarkable way. They make you feel like you’ve lived life, but there are no complaints. There is not a: “It hurt me, a child was not recognized or a bill was not paid”. I I have never denied that I was a womanizer. But it is a constant that they say: It was with this one, with the other, that he threatened the one he had married. But none of them say anything serious. Except for Marixa Balli, who said that I abandoned Callejón in the accident we had, something I would never have done even with a stranger. Then everything else is a firework, it doesn’t bother me,” explains the current radio operator.
What Coppola confirms is this Not participating Callejón (also his partner in the 90s) in the series was not a casual decision. “Fernanda was in a personal conflict with her husband and I didn’t say no, but I asked: protect, because he was separating, with a girl. In fact, there was no reproach or complaint on his part I was grateful I wasn’t there“, confirms those who preferred to abstain from reading the scripts having the possibility to do so.
“I trusted and I didn’t make a mistake. Then they explained it to me If you don’t put something in the series that sparks controversy, it won’t capture mass interest.. If there is a second season, and I can’t wait, I will read it first.”
And, without jumping on the controversy bandwagon, it was Callejón herself (whose history with Guillote dates back to seven years as a girlfriend “and five as a lover by choice”) who buried the issue. “Let them say it however they want”she said, detached from the media.
It’s not just criticism
But not all of them are palaces for the Star+ megaproduction, an exceptional period x-ray, with chapters of cinematic caliber and a physical and gestural timing that catapults actor Juan Minujín into the colorful role.
Without direct feedback from Susana Giménez (represented by María Campos, with mixed opinions on her performance) or the surrounding environment Karina Rabolini (personified by María del Cerro) not everything seems to have been said.
What is known is this The TV diva gave her consent to the image and asked the real “Guillote” to take meticulous care of her in his dressing room. It also emerged, with the favorable wind among so much gunpowder in the air, that the role of Anna Favellathe Italian actress (known for the role of Luis Miguel’s mother in the Netflix series) who represented Coppola’s secretary in the 1980s, would have had the thumbs up after a real employee had been present on the Neapolitan set together with her husband.
“My role was not that of a character, a star or an actress from the entertainment world. I don’t know what you thought because I have no contact with her, but I imagine she likes me. Also, by not being known publicly, she has another freedom because people don’t know what she was like,” she shared. Maria Marull with Clarionwhich in the role of Silvia, Guillermo’s first wife, gives a blanket of cold cloth amid controversy.
A wave of massive anger which, despite the media outburst – still – does not provide for complaints or legal action on your horizon. “Not that I know of. Now, if there is I will accompany anyone who does. But you have to give me valid reasons. Pradón got angry for a moment, until I clarified it. The rest is the chimichurri of the series. Now, are you going to talk? Safe. And I’ll tell you what, better. Because people who didn’t know the series now know it,” concludes a satisfied Coppola.
