From 4 to 10 April, at Cinépolis Recoleta (located in Vicente López 2051, CABA), the tenth edition of Italian cinema week. This meeting on contemporary Italian cinema has been selected 12 films to watch in seven days.
In this exhibition, according to the organizers, you will be able to see works by established directors, but also by young talents which offer new perspectives, aesthetic proposals and different themes.
The director and the actress will be present Paola Cortellesi From There’s still tomorrow (We will always have a tomorrow), that will be the opening film of this edition, awarded with great critical reception. It became the highest-grossing film in Italy in 2023, with six million viewers, surpassing Barbie (4,390,410) and Oppenheimer (3,773,191).
The director will also be part of the game Laura Lucchetti Of The beautiful estate (La Bella Estate), adaptation of a novel by Cesare Pavesepresented as a world premiere at the Locarn Festival; Geneva Elkann Of I told you (I told you so), a black comedy with a cast renowned for Italian cinephilia in a Rome that loses control when extreme heat arrives.
Director Brando De Sica -grandson of Vittorio De Sica-, in turn, will be present for Mimì – The prince of darkness (Mimí, the Prince of Darkness), his debut film for lovers of the horror genre, with its own imprint and style. YESYour film received the Special Mention (Noves Visions) at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival, Catalonia 2023.
The exhibition itinerary is completed with some films that deal with different themes and cinematographic styles. Among these there is Kidnapped (The Conversion), from the prestigious Marco Bellocchiopremiered in official competition at Cannes, on the profound relationship between religion and power.
Another of the films scheduled: The chimera (The Chimera) Alice Rohrwacheraward-winning film that competed for the Palme d’Or at Cannes. Located in picturesque Tuscanythe plot follows several intertwined destinies in search of the chimera.
The sun of the future (The sun of the future), by Nanni Moretti, is a comedy that marks his return, also in competition at Cannes. Here, Moretti plays one film in another.
An endless Sunday (An endless Sunday) Alain Parronia debut film co-produced by Wim Wenders, competed in the last edition of Venice. The story is based on three young people from the outskirts of Rome who face a hostile world as they try to make their mark.
Stranizza D’Amuri (Fireworks), the debut of Giuseppe Fiorello, Winner of numerous awards, it is a drama set in 1980s Sicily: it tells the story of the cruelty and lack of protection of a generation of teenagers.
Invelle (Place non-existent), Simone Massi It premiered at the Venice Film Festival. It’s a war story told from a girl’s point of view. Furthermore, MercyFrom Emma Danteit is a drama that has as its axis extreme poverty and abuse in a Sicilian town.
Finally, Aeneas (From Pietro Castellitto), nominated for the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, follows in the footsteps of a character in search of the Greco-Roman myth that bears his name, going through excess, chaos and betrayal in his quest to find some humanity.
