American actor Ron Eliwho played Tarzan in the series of the same name broadcast on the American channel NBC from 1966 to 1968, he died at 86 years old in Santa Barbara, California, United States, his daughter confirmed in a statement on Wednesday.
“The world has lost one of the greatest men I have ever known, and I have lost my father,” he said. his daughter, Kirstenin a press release reporting that Ely had died at home surrounded by his loved ones.
The actor’s daughter underlined the facets of her father: “Actor, writer, coach, mentorfamily man and leader,” a person who “created a powerful wave of positive influence wherever he went,” who had a special “impact” on others.
Ely first became famous in the 60safter landing the starring role in NBC’s Tarzan, the television series that ran from 1966 to 1968 and to which the actor gave his name his footprint and his statuesque bodythat was seen in black and white and color screens.
He later returned to acting in Universal’s Doc Savage: Man of Bronze in 1975.
Later, the actor acted guest roles in some of the biggest shows on television, such as Wonder Woman, Love Cruise, Fantasy Island and Superboy.
Ely also pursued a professional career as a writer and is the author of two crime novels, Night Shadows (1994) and East Beach (1995).
He retired in 2001, only to return for another role in the 2014 television film Expecting Amish.

“My greatest comfort is knowing this my father is with my mother and brother. It is also my greatest sadness because I miss them so much that it will remain imprinted in my soul (…) until we meet again”, added his daughter, according to American media reported by the EFE agency.
