The Montreal full circus festival on Thursday announced the list of artists who will flock to TOHU, in Montreal, from July 7 to 17. After two years of cut -off programming, it will see the return of international artists and showcase new things like the show After the nightof the Quebec troupe Nord Nord Est.
This year’s festival’s flagship production, After the night was specially designed for the TOHU rotunda, a 360-degree stage to be used at its full height. The show, which combines live music, acrobatics and dance, will see twelve acrobats, dancers and dancers parade on an impressive stage device with aerial installations.
The musical atmosphere will be provided by the Montreal trio Chances. The public will discover this show on July 2, then from July 5 to 16.
From July 6 to 17, the Gypsy Kumbia Orchestra will perform barka, a multidisciplinary show that mixes music, dance and circus art. Twice nominated for awards at Juno, the twelve -headed Quebec orchestra is part of the international cumbiero movement, combining accordion, violin, clarinet and a brass section to the rhythm of cumbia.
A show that combines circus and Caribbean dance from Guadeloupe
Finally free of international travel restrictions linked to COVID-19, some circus artists will travel to Montreal from abroad, such as the duo Dansateliers, consisting of Norwegian Marta Alstadsæter and Dutch Kim-Jomi Fischer.
With actor Vincent Kollar, they will perform, from July 8 to 11, stagea circus and dance show where they invite the public to share an imaginary space, while by exploring the mechanisms and social dynamicsaccording to the press release.
Still on the international side, the Guadeloupe circus troupe Métis’Gwa will perform beautiful squares, a show with a feminist flavor that blends contemporary circus and Caribbean dance, based on choreography by Léo Lérus. The work features two dancers from Guadeloupe and Guyana, as well as two artists from France who specialize in the Cyr wheel. To be seen on July 8, 9 and 11.
As every year, the Montreal full-fledged circus will also offer a rich free outdoor program in the Latin Quarter. It will be presented at the end of June, in conjunction witha new and large -scale concept […] who will actively participate in the resurgence of downtown Montreal.
