Ncuti Gatwa plays Eric Effiong in the series “Sex Education” – Disclosure / Netflix

The BBC announced that Ncuti Gatwabest known for interpreting Eric Effiong in the “Sex Education” series, was cast to succeed Jodie Whittaker as the star of “Doctor Who”. The actor will be the 14th to assume the role of Doctor in the franchise, being the first black protagonist.

In a statement, the 29-year-old artist spoke about the thrill of playing one of pop culture’s most famous characters: “Unlike the Doctor, I may have one heart, but I’m giving it completely to this series.”
