The original version of “Dirty Dancing: Hot Rhythm” is directed by Emile Ardolino and tells the story of Baby, a young woman who is disappointed to discover that she will spend the summer of 1963 with her family staying at a resort in the Catskills region. She just didn’t expect to meet the resort’s dance instructor, Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze), a boy with a very different past from hers. When they become partners on the slopes, the two end up falling in love.
This will not be the first story derived from the dancing romance universe. The prelude “Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights” was released in 2004 and takes place during the Cuban revolution in 1959. In 2011, the feature also received a remake, which was considered a major failure.
