Another week full of releases in theaters and on the main platforms of streaming, like Netflix, HBO Max, Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video and more, is here! And as usual, so you can start choosing what you’re going to watch in the next few days, we’ve prepared a list of this week’s main releases.
Among the main titles are “O Homem do Norte”; “The Weight of Talent”, a film in which Nicolas Cage he lives himself; the premiere of the long-awaited second season of the Brazilian series “Irmandade” and much more! Check out:
MOVIE THEATER
- “The Man from the North” (May 12)
Directed by Robert Eggerseven responsible for “The Witch”, the feature described as “violent epic viking” shows the revenge journey of amlet (Alexander Skarsgard), a prince who witnessed the assassination of his father, King Horwendil. Rounding out the heavyweight roster are: Nicole Kidman (“Introducing the Ricardos”), Anya Taylor-Joy (“The Queen’s Gambit”), Ethan Hawke (“Moon Knight”) and Willem Dafoe (“Spider-Man: No Homecoming”). - “The Weight of Talent” (May 12)
The film is described as a comedy resembling 1999’s “I Want to Be John Malkovich” directed by Spike Jonze. Your plot will follow Nicolas Cage experiencing creative and financial problems in relation to his career. So he decides to accept the offer of a million dollars to attend the birthday of a very rich super fan, lived by Pedro Pascal. Things change suddenly when cage is recruited by a CIA agent (Tiffany Haddish) being forced to show his worth to save himself and the world. Watch the trailer:
- “Crocodile – Death Awaits You” (May 12)
Deep in the forests of Australia, a group of friends explore a remote cave system when a tropical storm hits them. As the water level rises, leaving them trapped far below the surface, something even deadlier emerges from the darkness, a massive killer crocodile.
- “Wild Waters” (May 12)
In the plot, the investigator Lucio Gualtieri accepts a job to solve a crime committed on the border between Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. There, he finds himself pursued by a criminal organization involved in a macabre murder plot. Pike he ends up discovering a dark truth that puts all his beliefs in doubt. Now, the ex-cop must face his troubled past as he tries to survive the dangers of this wild water zone.

- “Supermoms” – Season 6 (May 10)
the day-to-day of Kate (Catherine Reitman), Anne (Dani Kind), Jenny (Jessalyn Wanlim) and frankie (Juno Rinaldi), four women who met in a group of very critical mothers, is not easy. With the end of maternity leave, the friends must learn to balance children, work and love, while living in the bustling city of Toronto.
- “Brotherhood” – Season 2 (May 11)
On the Serie, Christina (Naruna Costa), an honest and dedicated lawyer, discovers that Edson (Your George), her brother who was arrested when she was still a child, is now the leader of a rising criminal faction – known as the “Brotherhood”. In this second season, after a deadly rebellion, the brothers face new enemies and threats that test the bond between the two. While Edson runs the risk of his life in prison and is persecuted by the governor, Christina will need to come up with a much more complex plan. Watch the trailer:
- “The Soldier Who Wasn’t There” (May 11)
In the espionage plot, two British agents create a bizarre strategy to deceive the Nazis and alter the course of World War II. The film is based on a true story of disinformation.
- “Our Father?” (may 11)
Jacoba Ballard was an only child, conceived through donor sperm, who always dreamed of having a brother or sister. An at-home DNA test led to the discovery of not one, but seven half-siblings, a number that defied best practices in fertility medicine. When the group set out to learn more about their curious family tree, they soon discovered the sickening truth: their parents’ fertility doctor was inseminating his patients with their own sperm – without their knowledge or consent.
- “42 Days of Darkness” – Season 1 (May 11)
The Chilean police series follows the desperate journey of Cecilia Montes (Claudia Di Girolamo) in search of his missing sister. veronica (Aline Kuppenheim) mysteriously disappears from her own home and her sister was the last person to have contact with her. Soon, Cecilia tries to get help from the authorities, but the investigation leads nowhere. She feels that if she doesn’t act, she will never see her sister again.
- “The Widows” (May 12)
A shooting leaves four criminals dead during an attempted robbery in Chicago. Their debt-ridden widows decide to join forces and strike their own blow to secure a future for their families.
- “The Power and the Law” – Season 1 (May 13)
Based on the book series by Michael Connellythe drama follows the iconoclastic idealist Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) who runs a law firm from the back of his car, working on small and large cases in the city of Los Angeles, United States.
- “Back to Prom” (May 13)
in the plot, “after a cheerleader (Rebel Wilson) falls off a pyramid and falls into a coma for 20 years, she wakes up a 37-year-old woman, ready to go back to high school, regain her status, and claim the prom queen crown that eluded her.”, says the synopsis. Watch the trailer:

- “The Essex Serper” – Season 1 (May 13)
In the series starring Tom Hiddleston (“Loki”) and Claire Danes (“Homeland”), “After nearly 300 years, the mythical Essex Serpent is said to have returned, taking the life of a young man on New Year’s Eve. Being a keen naturalist with no patience for superstition, Cora is immediately fascinated, and certain that what the local people thinks a magical sea beast might be an undiscovered species. Eager to investigate, she is introduced to the local vicar, William Ransome. Will is also suspicious of the rumors. - “The Time Traveler’s Wife” – Season 1 (May 15)
In the original work, Henry (Theo James) is 28 years old and Clare (Rose Leslie), 20. He is a modern librarian, while she is a beautiful art student. The two fall in love, get married and start to pursue the goals common to most couples: children, good friends, a fulfilling job.

- “The Kids In The Hall” – Season 1 (May 12)
With 25-minute episodes, in the 2022 revival, the troupe promises the return of beloved characters and the participation of big stars, as well as new faces and hilarious situations. The Kids return with 8 new episodes and the irreverence for which they have become recognized

- “Moonfall – Lunar Menace” (May 13)
With Halle Berry (“Wound”) and Patrick Wilson (“Aquaman 2”), the plot follows a team of astronauts, whose mission is to save humanity when the Moon begins to collide with Earth. Soon, with everyone’s lives on the line, a few days before the collision happens, a group is sent on this impossible mission to land on the lunar surface and try to find out what happened. - “The Quest: The Quest” – Season 1 (May 11)
In the plot, a group of teenagers will face many challenges to restore balance to the magical kingdom of Everealm. A completely different place than what they are used to, they will have to prove their resistance and learn to fight when entering a reality show.
- “The Enchanted Sneakers” (May 13)
The pop/hip-hop musical takes place in New York City and revolves around the street style of sneakers giving the story a contemporary twist to the fairy tale of Cinderella. in the plot, He (Chosen Jacobs) is an aspiring designer tennis player from Queens who works as a stock clerk in a shoe store and hides his artistic talent. He feels a deep connection after a chance encounter with Kira King (Lexi Underwood), daughter of Darius King – the basketball legend – and a sort of “Blue Princess” of Manhattan. - “Super Pumped” – Season 1 (May 12)
Planned as an anthology, season 1 of “Super Pumped” is based on the book of the same name by Mike Isaac. The series will feature the CEO and co-founder of Uber, Travis Kalanick (Joseph Gordon-Levitt ), in his troubled relationship with his mentor Bill Gurley (Kyle Chandler) depicting the ups and downs of the early transport company.
