American rapper Young Thug was arrested for gang involvement

American rapper Young Thug, a Grammy winner and one of hip-hop’s biggest figures, was arrested Monday along with 27 other artists of his record label, YSL, for their links to criminals gang in Atlanta, and has already been charged by the prosecutor for many crimes.

Fulton County District Attorney filed, in the state of Georgia 56 cases against Young Thug and his team based on the fact that they have operated as a criminal organization engaged in illegal activities since the end of 2012.

The crimes they accuse range from involvement in the Bloods street gang, to extortion, armed robbery and even murder against members of rival groups.

For these accusations, Jeffrey Lamar Williams, real name of Young Thug, can be imprisoned for up to 20 years.

The official version of events

According to authorities, Young Thug, whose nickname means “young gangster” in Spanish, was one of the founders of the gang that will have the same record company name -YSL- along with rapper Trontavious Stephens and Walter Murphy , alias DK.

At a news conference, Fulton County Attorney Fani Willis said the arrest of 28 YSL members would help make the city’s streets “safer”.

According to U.S. media reports, the prosecution considers that YSL is not acting alone but is related to the Bloods gang, a criminal group that originated in the 1970s in Los Angeles and has a long history of cases that related to drug trafficking, pimping, extortion, theft and murder.

YSL record company

Last year, production company Warner Music acquired 300 Entertainment, the company that owns the YSL record company and Young Thug himself, after the rapper won a Grammy for Song of the Year in 2019 for his song. This is America.

In October 2021, Young Thug released his second studio album, Punkwhere he collaborated with well -known artists of American urban music, such as J. Cole, Post Malone, Drake, Travis Scott, Doja Cat or Kanye West.

The album debuted at number one on the Billboard chart in the United States, showing the career potential of this artist, which can now be delayed.

In 2011, Young Thug began a series of mixtapes I came from Nothingconsisting of three mixtapes released between 2011 and 2012. These earlier musicals included songs such as Eat U Alive, We Ballin ‘, Who’s On Top, All These Racks On Me Y I know you, Among others. Although the series had little impact, it was able to attract the attention of rapper Gucci Mane, who will invite him to be part of his label 1017 Brick Squad or 1017 Eskimo by the end of 2012.

Under this label he made his official debut releasing the first part of the series 1017 Thief (2013-14). This first album had collaborations with artists such as Gucci Mane, Maceo, Young Scooter and PeeWee Longway on songs such as Jungle, Picacho, F*ck With It Y Nigeria. After it is released 1017 Thug 1 (2013), received good reviews and was positioned on several music charts. That was the beginning of a career that is now in danger of being interrupted.
