The sixth film in the franchise opens in theaters on March 31, 2023
Star of “Scream 4”, Hayden Panettiere was confirmed by the website Hollywood Reporter in the cast of the sixth film in the horror franchise and will reprise the role of Kirby Reed.
The character was stabbed in the stomach by one of the story’s assassins, Charlie Walker (Rory Culkin) in the fourth film, but his death was never confirmed in the story. With the premiere of “Scream 5”, one of the scenes shows that Reed not only survived, but also gave interviews about the attack in Woodsboro.
With that, Panettiere joins the actors Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding and Jenna Ortega as the stars of the “Scream 6” cast. The official synopsis has not yet been released, but according to Variety, the story will follow the group of survivors moving forward after leaving the horrors of Woodsboro behind.
The film will feature the return of James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick as screenwriters. Already Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (both from “Bloody Wedding”) also return to direct the film. Kevin Williamson and Chad Villella are confirmed in the executive producing role.
“Scream 6” opens in theaters on March 31, 2023.
