The Juno Awards, which recognize the best in Canadian music, are being held this weekend in Toronto. This is a strong comeback for the event, being held in person for the first time since 2019.
Although the main gala will take place on Budweiser’s outdoor stage on Sunday, most of the awards will be given tonight in an initial ceremony at the Metro Toronto Convention Center.
Artists FouKi, Louis-Jean Cormier, Roxane Bruneau, Vincent Vallières and Cœur de pirate are notably running in the French-speaking album of the year category, which is due to be awarded around 8:20 p.m.
On his first album phoenixit was Quebec artist Charlotte Cardin who dominated the list of finalists.
At the start of the ceremony, Charlotte Cardin got her hands on the first prize awarded: the pop album of the year.
He was nominated in other top categories, including Artist of the Year and Album of the Year. He will also give a performance on Sunday.
