It was 1943 when Hitler dominated all stages of World War II, and the allies did not know how to stop him. They planned an amphibious operation, the biggest thought – it was missing for D -Day in Normandy – landing on the island of Sicily, in Italy. But to be successful, Nazi troops should not be there, so British Intelligence committed fraud.
The idea was to convince the Nazis that instead of attacking through Sicily, they would attack through Greece.

But to convince them they made a plan, executed by Ewen Montagu and Charles Cholmondeley, here played by Colin Firth (Oscar for The king said) and Matthew Macfadyen (Tom Wambsgans, Logan Roy’s son -in -law at Succession).
history of counter spies
Because it was a counter-spy story, they expected that if they dumped a corpse near the port of Huelva, in Spain (which was neutral in combat, but attacked by the Germans and, of course, British spies) and it had among with its tools writing false information about landing in Greece, they will fall into the hands of the Nazis and they will take the bait.

It sounds and seems far-fetched, so Winston Churchill himself, the British Prime Minister, would say it was ridiculous, but certainly for that reason it was possible for him to be believed by Nazi commanders.
The film by John Maddenshakespeare is passionate, The quaint Marigold Hotel) reconstructs the actions, but emphasizes the relationship between Ewen and Charles and stays with Jean Leslie (the Scottish Kelly Macdonald, who lent voice to Mérida in Brave), an MI5 agent whose photo was placed on the corpse’s clothing to pretend to be his girlfriend.

The whole subplot of how they got the body of a homeless man and made him fake Captain William Martin is a movie itself. And Madden narrates it in detail, allowing him to play in a love triangle that doesn’t become material between the three main characters.
Jean was a widow, Ewen’s wife and children had immigrated to the United States — all indicated that there was no more love in that marriage — and Charles saw with evil eyes how Ewen and Jean “created” to themselves the story of the fake captain and his fake girlfriend Pam.

We answered the question if The weapon of deception it’s a war film with ‘Ni’, because that’s clearly the background, but Madden’s camera is barely moving from the interior of London. And he’s talking about that war, what’s going on between the spies, but also between the English themselves, because of their lack of trust in each other-after all, we’re talking about to Intelligence agents -, which may include war heroes and some brothers who include Russia’s condolences …
First, from The king saidknows how to manage these areas, and if we’re going to talk about espionage, well, look at the two Kingsman. He is slowly becoming the British Tom Hanks.

And as for Matthew Macfadyen, his character is true to Succession he seems to have reformatted it, and when we see Charles we will never forget Tom Wambsgans. But no matter how much it works, even that similarity is forgivable.
Oh, Johnny Flynn (Anya Taylor-Joy’s cast mate) emma) was Commander Ian Fleming. Don’t get out of his sight.
