“It was a dizzying experience to play the protagonist of Jesus Kid. In today’s Brazil, reality has surpassed fiction. It’s not what happens with Eugênio, he writes and the character of his story rewrites his destiny. This is a film that will always be prophetic.” comments Paulo Miklos in a note.

Sérgio Marone, who gives life to the hero Jesus Kid, says he was responsible for presenting Mutarelli’s work to Muritiba. “I read Jesus Kid in 2010 when I was looking for a story to adapt for a movie. I saw that it was a really fun movie. At the Hollywood Brazilian Film Festival, in Los Angeles, I watched ‘A Fábrica’, a short film by Aly, and I was fascinated by his sensitivity and talent. He was the ideal director to make Jesus Kid, my first film as a producer as well as an actor. It was a long, amazing process. The feeling of seeing the first night on set happening was indescribable. Very exciting indeed, the realization of a dream.”

The film also has Maureen Miranda, Leandro Daniel, Luthero Almeida, Fábio Silvestre and Otávio Linhares in the cast.

“Jesus Kid” opens in theaters on June 9 and on streaming platforms on the 10th.
