according to the numbers of Netflix, Bridgerton’s two seasons are the two most -watched productions in the history of the platform. Clearly the period soap Shodna Rhimes derived from Julia Quinn’s books has a bright future.

So it is not surprising that less than two months after the premiere of the second episode, the third is already in question. These days it has been confirmed that the next stellar love story in the series is that of Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan). This was revealed by Coughlan himself at an event organized by Netflix.

The news is compelling because until now, the series has respected the order of the novels: the first focused on Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) with Simon (Rege-Jean Page); and the second pigeon in Anthony Bridgerton’s (Jonathon Bailey) romance with Kate (Simone Ashley).

Instead the next Bridgerton It is based on Quinn’s fourth novel. The third book, which focuses on Benedict Bridgerton’s love life, is expected to be discussed at a later date.

The new showrunner explained why

It recently emerged that Chris Van Dusen has retired as showrunner after two successful seasons. In her place came screenwriter and producer Jess Brownell, who spoke miscellaneous of this decision to skip one of the books.

“I feel like it’s time for Colin and Penelope. Since we’ve been seeing the two actors on screen since the first season, we’ve already invested a bit in them. We know who they are as people, ”said Brownell, who wrote and produced episodes of Scandaly ng Inventing Annaanother recent hit from Netflix.

“I feel like, especially last season, there were moments of tension between them, where Colin was on a good line almost realizing that Penelope had feelings for him, but not quite. Instead of taking the plank in that dynamic, we wanted it to be his time. We really felt it was the perfect time to start, “Brownell added.

It should be noted that by the end of the second season of Bridgerton, Penelope’s character heard Colin – whom she loved more as a friend for a long time – to say she would never marry him. That idea of the third Bridgerton man is expected to change in the course of the new plot.

More changes in “Bridgerton 3”

As already mentioned, Shondaland production – Shonda Rhimes ’production company – decided to change showrunners despite Chris Van Dusen’s proven worth. The former producer of Gray’s Anatomythe emblematic series of Rhimes, said upon learning of his release that “Bridgerton It will always have a special place in my heart and I think I did what I wanted to do. ”

“The fact that this show has become the biggest English -language series on Netflix is something I’ll always be proud of. But at the end of the day, it’s time to move on and hopefully recreate that magic in the near future.”

Another change for the third season is in the role of Francesca Bridgerton, until now played by Ruby Sokes. But as Sokes will be the protagonist of Lockwood & Co. -another series on Netflix-, will be replaced by Hannah Dodd.
