The show will also explore “the dark and devious legacy of the Hammer family”
the fall of the actor Armie Hammer – as well as that of the Hammer family – will be the focus of a TV special coming to Discovery+. The information is from Variety (via RollingStone).
Working with the title “House of Hammer”, the program will explore the “disturbing accusations made against the Oscar-nominated actor and the dark and devious legacy of the Hammer family”, a five-generation dynasty that exposed “all the devastating consequences of privilege”.
The special, announced Wednesday as part of Discovery+ and ID channel’s upcoming true-crime slate, will also feature interviews with unspecified members of the Hammer family and alleged victims of the actor.
UNDERSTAND THE ARMIE HAMMER CASE
In March 2021, a woman under the pseudonym “Effie” accused the actor of raping her “violently” and assaulting her. Hammer, through his attorney, denied the “vicious and spurious” allegations, as well as the other allegations that appeared on social media in unverified text messages that detailed shocking sexual fantasies, including acts of cannibalism. Los Angeles police have also opened an investigation into the rape allegations against the actor.
Despite denials, Hammer dropped all his future projects, including a TV series about the production of “The Godfather” (“The Offer”) and the romantic comedy “Shotgun Wedding”, starring Jennifer Lopez.
Hammer also left the pandemic-delayed Broadway play “The Minutes” and was partially blamed for the poor box office for his (as of now) final big screen appearance in “Death on the Nile.”
In addition to the special, Discovery+ will also air specials about the murder of Gabby Petito, the deaths of Tupac Shakur and Notorious BIG, and the Menendez brothers.
