Kathleen Kennedy Doesn’t Want To Repeat The Mistake She Made With Han Solo

Indiana Jones Will Die Along With Harrison Ford, Says Lucasfilm President

Kathleen Kennedypresident of Lucasfilm, said in an interview with VanityFair, about how arrogant they were in trying to find a new actor to be Han Solo in a “Star Wars” movie, and that he doesn’t want to make the same mistake with Indiana Jones, a character immortalized by Harrison Ford.

When Shia LaBeouf was introduced as the son of Indiana Jones in “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” in 2008, many speculated about the future of the franchise and the adventurer played by Ford. Now, Kennedy said he would “never do” a new Indiana Jones movie without Harrison Ford.

There must be times along the way when you learn things. [‘Solo’] it certainly could have been a learning moment. Some people talked about how, well, maybe ‘Solo’ should have been a TV show. But even making ‘Solo’ as a TV show without Harrison Ford like Han Solo…“, said the president.

It’s the same thought. Maybe I should have recognized this sooner. I would never do Indiana Jones without Harrison Ford. Having just finished the fifth movie, I can say, there hasn’t been a day that I’m not on set that I’m not thinking, ‘Yes – this is Indiana Jones’.”.

She also paid attention to the fact that the DNA of the characters is present in the actors and how important this is for the nostalgic element. “Maybe I’m closer to Indy’s DNA, and always have been, than when I got into Star Wars, because now it seems so clear that we can’t do that, and you want to revisit the things you want.

You want to have that feeling again, and you’re trying to resurrect it. I think that’s what we do even with our new characters. With Star Wars, everyone talks about a ‘feeling’ they have about Star Wars. That’s the intangible idea you’ve been looking for”, defended Kennedy.

“Indiana Jones 5” is scheduled to hit theaters on June 30, 2023. The film will be directed by James Mangold (“Logan”).
