Remember some fight scenes from the book Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief that may appear in the new adaptation for Disney +
A new adaptation of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series has already been confirmed, but do you remember some iconic and emotional fight scenes from the first book, The Lightning Thief?
Remember some remarkable moments from the first book of the saga that may appear in the first season of the series adapted for Disney+. So you can keep an eye on the details to come.
But be careful! This list contains several spoilers from the book, huh?
Check it out:
Mrs. Dodds
The beginning algebra teacher at Yancy Academy appeared to be just another obnoxious lady who came to make Percy Jackson’s academic life hell. However, Ms. Dodds was Percy’s first contact with the world of the Greek gods as she was the first creature to attack the boy during a school trip.
the Minotaur
As a demigod, Percy is always attracting monsters to himself, especially before meeting the safety of Camp Half-Blood. During a trip to the beach with his mother, the boy is attacked by the Minotaur, who does everything he can to delay Percy’s arrival at Half-Blood Hill. However, the half-blood was able to defeat him during his escape to the camp, which impressed the other campers upon his arrival.
Clarisse LaRue and the bathroom
Okay, Clarisse is not a monster and the fight wasn’t as aggressive as the others. However, the first meeting between Percy and Ares’ daughter was troubled. LaRue, never one of the nicest people at Camp Half-Blood, tried to shove Percy’s head down the toilet. The boy retaliated by using his connection to the water to strike back at Clarisse before her face was submerged.
Mrs. Dodds, but this time accompanied
Yes, Ms. Dodds returns to terrorize Percy’s life. However, this time she doesn’t come back alone. As one of the Underworld Furies, Dodds was always accompanied by two other Benevolents during her attacks. She reappears when Percy, Annabeth and Grover embark on an adventure to find Zeus’ Master Lightning. The battle fought inside a travel bus caused much confusion, including a massive explosion and Percy’s increasingly dirty name in the US media, where he was branded a fugitive criminal.
the Medusa
There is no doubt that Medusa is one of the most horrifying creatures in Greek mythology. Your opponents must be very careful to face her, as a single look in her eyes can petrify you forever. The scene where the trio encounter Medusa in the book takes place right after the bus explodes, when Percy, Annabeth and Grover are already too tired to continue on their journey. Disguised as an old lady, the creature uses manipulation to lure them as its next victims and fights an uphill battle that results in its head being cut off.
Ares, the god of war
Like his children, Ares likes to mess around. After discovering that the god of war gave him a backpack that carried Zeus’s Master Bolt all along, Percy battles Ares after he provokes the young boy, who doesn’t run away from the fight and tries to face the Olympian. Percy uses the strength of water and his sword skills to defeat Ares and travel to Olympus.
Luke Castellan
And finally, we could not fail to mention the great villain of this whole story. Luke and Percy don’t engage in physical combat in the first book, but the revelation of the son of Hermes as the great villain is nonetheless surprising. Luke’s dialogue is emotional and aggressive, as he exposes all of his feelings and motives for following through with his plan to end the gods. Although it was not a physical combat, the scene with Luke is still one of the most remarkable in the book.
