“Lightyear” premieres June 16 exclusively in theaters
“Lightyear”, the new movie from Disney and Pixar, presents the story of the astronaut hero who inspired the manufacture of Andy’s toy, in the “Toy Story” franchise. Check below everything you need to know to know a little more about the production, which opens on June 16 in theaters:
- STORY
“Lightyear” is a science fiction adventure that tells the origin of the astronaut hero Buzz Lightyear. The production follows the legendary space ranger after being abandoned on a hostile planet 4.2 million light years from Earth alongside his commander and her team.
As Buzz tries to find a way back home through space and time, a group of ambitious recruits and the charming robot cat companion Sox join the hero. To complicate matters, Zurg, an imposing presence, and his army of ruthless robots arrive on the planet with a mysterious appointment.
- BUZZ LIGHTYEAR IN THE NEW MOVIE x BUZZ LIGHTYEAR IN “TOY STORY”
Despite the same name, the characters are different. The new Disney and Pixar animation features the legendary Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear, who is the hero that inspired the manufacture of the eponymous toy that Andy wins in the movie “Toy Story” (1995).
The film features the English voices of Chis Evans (Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) as the successful Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear, Use Fertilizer as his commander and best friend Alisha Hawthorne, and Peter Sohn like Sox.
Keke Palmer, Taika Waititi and Dale Soules lend their voices to members of the Junior Zap Patrol: Izzy Hawthorne, Mo Morrison and Darby Steel, respectively. Already James Brolin can be heard as the enigmatic Zurg.
The voice cast also includes Mary McDonald-Lewis such as the IVAN on-board computer, Isiah Whitlock Jr. like Commander Burnside, Efren Ramirez like Airman Diaz, and Keira Hairston like Young Izzy.

The actor and presenter Marcos Mion will voice Buzz Lightyear here in Brazil. Besides Mionthe nationally dubbed version will have names such as: Adriana Pissardini, Andre Sauer, Carlos Campanille, César Marchetti, Dláigelles Silva, Flora Paulista, Francisco Junior, Glauco Marquesamong others.
- BUZZ’S VOICE IN “TOY STORY”
In the animation “Toy Story”, the actor Tim Allen is the original voice of Buzz Lightyear and in Brazil who gives voice to the character in all the films of the franchise is the actor and voice actor Guilherme Briggs. Both continue as the official voice actors. While Allen and Briggs are the voices of Andy’s Buzz Lightyear doll, Evans and Mion lend their voices to the hero who inspired the creation of the toy.
- SOUNDTRACK
Michael Giacchino, responsible for the music for “The Batman” and “Spider-Man: No Return Home”, will be the composer of the soundtrack for “Lightyear”. Winner of an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a Grammy, giacchino has a long journey at Pixar, since he was responsible for the films “Up: High Adventures”, the duology “The Incredibles”, “Cars 2”, “Ratatouille”, “Live Life is a Party”, “Fun Mind” and much more.
