The film will have a screenplay adapted from the play by Mark St. Germain
The actor Anthony Hopkins, winner of the Oscar for Best Actor for “My Father”, already has a new project in mind. The information is from Collider.
The star will play the father of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud, in “Freud’s Last Session”, an adaptation of the play by Mark St. Germainwho will also be responsible for writing the screenplay for the feature.
The story follows an encounter between Freud and a still young CS Lewis, the British writer behind The Chronicles of Narnia. The two discuss subjects such as sexuality, faith and love, with the narrative alternating between past, present and fantasy, without ever leaving Freud’s office.
The adaptation will be led by Matthew Brown (“The Man Who Saw Infinity”), who said he was drawn to the project by the recent themes it tackles. “We live in such an ideologically polarized time, where everyone is stuck in their own groups, with no real dialogue. I want to make a film for all audiences that is emotional, thought-provoking and creative. A film that raises big questions as it delves into what lies at the heart of the human condition: love, faith and mortality.”.
“Freud’s Last Session” will begin filming in London in the second half of 2022.
