David Cronenberg attended the Cannes Film Festival with his new film “Crimes of the Future”
Attending this year’s Cannes Film Festival with his new film “Crimes of the Future”, director David Cronenberg was taken back to the past when questioned by a representative of the Variety about not having taken on the direction of “Top Gun – Aces Indomitáveis”, a classic from the 1980s starring Tom Cruise.
“In the past, when I had a career, people offered me things”laughed Cronenbergbefore explaining that he thought the feature was offered to him because of his fondness for machinery, seen in his film “Escuderia do Poder”. “Great to watch for two hours. But to do for two years, it’s not for me”, added the filmmaker. Watch:

Coincidentally, in addition to David Cronenberg and his “Crimes of the Future” team, Tom Cruise was also present in Cannes to premiere “Top Gun: Maverick”, a sequel to the 1986 feature that will feature the return of important characters in history, such as Val Kilmerand new ones – case of Miles Teller and Jennifer Connelly – that will bring even more depth to the story.
In “Crimes of the Future”, “a deep dive into the not-so-distant future in which humanity is learning to adapt to its synthetic environment. This evolution moves humans beyond their natural state and into a metamorphosis, which alters their biological makeup.”says the official synopsis of the film.
Kristen Stewart (“Spencer”), Viggo Mortensen (“Captain Fantastic”), Léa Seydoux (“007 – No Time to Die”), Scott Speedman (“Grey’s Anatomy”), Yorgos Karamihos and Nadia Litz complete the cast of the film that officially opens in theaters on June 3.
