The pianist, singer-songwriter and documentary filmmaker Alejandro Bettinotti He died Monday at the age of 59 after battling a serious illness, they reported from his surroundings.

With a career spanning more than thirty years in music and fourteen studio albums, the Argentine musician has always chosen the interesting fusion of tango, rock and urban poetry from his independent and managed productions.

He led groups such as Barrio Negro in the 1980s and Señores Monos in the 1990s, a project that eventually led to the tango-style Bettinotti-Fernández duo in the 2000s.

In that duo he formed with bassist and guitarist Hernán Fernández, he recorded eight albums between 2004 and 2012 –including a live at ND Ateneo-, all of which crossed 2×4 with rock .

Documentaries and albums

In 2009 he made the documentary intestinal asphaltan in -depth look at the origins of tango and its current contrast with new forms of the genre.

In 2013, he presented his first book drifting nodwhich includes a single album with nine intimate songs made with piano and voice.

Two years later, he released his tenth album, riddlesand traveled in the interior of the country with the group Alejandro Bettinotti and Los Esquifuzos.

And in 2016 he preceded the documentary Hey who are you (An art trip to the university grounds)shown in subsequent years in Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and Greece, closing the journey with a new documentary titled college travel.

With extensive tours in hundreds of national and foreign theaters, including his latest presentations, the streaming of his penultimate album is outstanding, weapon of peaceat the Picadero Theater.

Last year, with the return of post-pandemic face-to-face shows, Bettinotti unveiled her latest album I have news at the Teatro del Globo, with a group that includes Javier Crego (percussion), Ezequiel Spika (electric guitar) and Juan Manuel Mazal (drums).

During those times, the musician talked to Télam about his latest work in the studio, which is closer to rock.

“It’s an album that brings together some songs, more rock, more electric, and each song reflects a different universe,‘ I bring news ’of each of the universes, then to travel to each of those worlds ”, described.
