The film starring Jason Momoa is scheduled for release in 2023
Walter Hamada, an executive at Warner Bros., has revealed a hitherto unpublished plot about the plot of “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”, the sequel to DC’s King of Atlanta movie. According to him (via ComicBook), the director’s James Wan was envisioned as an action comedy focused on a collaboration between Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) and his half-brother Orm (Patrick Wilson), the antagonist of the original 2018 film.
“The film has always been promoted as a buddy comedy between Jason Momoa and Patrick Wilson.“, said Hamada. Buddy comedies were a big hit in the 80s with films like “Lethal Weapon”, “48 Hours”, among others.
In “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”, “When an ancient power is unleashed, Aquaman must forge a dangerous alliance with an unlikely ally to protect Atlantis – and the entire world – from irreversible devastation.”reveals the synopsis.
Aside from what the new text says about Part 2, more details are being kept under wraps, but it is expected to be mythologically related to Arthur Curry and the sunken kingdom, Atlantis. The suspicion is that it has a connection with the missing seventh kingdom of Atlantis, mentioned by the King Orm in the first film, from 2018.
Jason Momoa returns in the lead role and the cast still has Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring Trilogy) and Yahya Abdul-Matteen II (“Matrix Resurrections”) as the vengeful villain black manta ray. the filmmaker James Wan resumes directing the DC project and produces the feature alongside Peter SafranWhile David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrickwho co-wrote the original film, was tasked with signing the script for the sequel.
“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” is set to hit theaters on March 17, 2023.
