Five Quebec personalities received the Medal of Honor from the National Assembly on Tuesday night in Quebec City for their significant contribution to the advancement of society. The recipients were Janette Bertrand, Luc Dionne, Benoît Pelletier, as well as Guy Lafleur and Joyce Echaquan after death.

The other recipients are author, screenwriter and director Luc Dionne, the mastermind behind District 31; former MP and provincial Liberal minister Benoît Pelletier; hockey legends Guy Lafleur and Joyce Echaquan, an Atikamekw woman who died in September 2020 at Joliette hospital in problematic circumstances; a tragedy that sparked a debate on systemic racism in Quebec.
