“Amigo Secreto”, by Maria Augusta Ramos, opens in theaters on June 16
In June 2019, a few months after the beginning of the Bolsonaro government, the leak of messages exchanged between members of the Lava Jato operation would reveal the biggest judicial scandal in the history of the republic.
“Amigo Secreto”, new documentary by the award-winning director Maria Augusta Ramos (“O Processo”), follows some of the journalists behind the coverage in the two years that followed the first publications, when Brazil entered a long period of turmoil.
Starred by Leandro Demorifrom The Intercept Brasil, Carla Jimenez, Regiane Oliveira and Marina Rossifrom El País Brasil, “Amigo Secreto” shows how a major anti-corruption operation acted to weaken the justice system in Brazil, putting the country’s democracy at risk.
“Amigo Secreto” is a co-production between Brazil, Germany and Holland and its premiere in theaters is scheduled for June 16.
