Alan White, longtime drummer of progressive rock band Yes, has died at the age of 72. His death was announced on his family’s Facebook page.
The post says he died at his Seattle home on Thursday, after a brief battle with illness. A few days earlier, Yes had announced that due to health issues, Alan White would not be joining the band’s upcoming UK tour.
The musician joined Yes in 1972, replacing Bille Bruford, the band’s first drummer.
Alan White has become one of the mainstays of a band known for its frequent lineup changes. He was inducted into the Rock n ’Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Yes in 2017.
During his career, the drummer has also been involved in projects with John Lennon and George Harrison.
