pictures of his father
Curated by Elio Kapszuk, the exhibition consists of photographs showing Maximiliano’s father, in different scenes on a daily basis: in his garden, in the living room of his house, on the street and even looking at the camera at a very successful picture.
“I am always struck by the energy he puts into finding spaces or activities, where he can compensate for the various losses he has as a result of age, such as the fact, for example, of stopping working in his dental office, then 50 years, or stop driving ”, Maximiliano said.
“I’ve always wanted to do some photographic work with it, and a year ago I started recording it, but didn’t have much idea what was going to come out. And it turned out that, initially, I realized that thanks to what I was doing. , I was able to reconnect with my dad in another way, and spend more time with him, ”he says.

The source of the sample
The idea to showcase the photos came months later when the artist and photojournalist showed the director of the AMIA Art and Production Department, Elio Kapszuk, the content he had created. “It must be shown now. Your father has to see it in its entirety ”, the curator told him.
In the curatorial text of the exhibition, Kapszuk warned: “Much has been written and said about the protection or armor that photographers have when they are on the other side of the camera. Sometimes that distance is necessary to create. But there is also a bias that says closeness, involvement, has a kryptonite effect on photographers. In this work, we see how Maxi Vernazza emerges beautifully from any previous concept: her work breathes alone. And it inspires us. “
In the words of the curator, the exhibition “shows us Vernazza’s living work depicting/recording her father. This project suggests a full delivery, making the protective distance zero and putting the artist on most amazing situation. Also the most vulnerable: show your affections without gadgets or makeup. The images seem so simple and common that they generate a deep empathy for us based on the sensitivity that voluntarily. “
