The film “Triangle of Sadness” by the director Ruben Östlund, was the big winner of the Palme d’Or at the 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. This is the second time that a film by the director has won the Festival’s top prize, the previous one being “The Square” in 2017.
“Triangle of Sadness” brings together several controversial sequences that promise to stir the audience by showing a hypocritical, racist, classist and greedy consumer society.
In the story, a couple of fashion celebrities are invited on a luxury cruise for wealthy people. Of course, the trip will turn into chaos. In certain passages, vomit and feces will stir the viewer’s stomach.
Other highlights of the awards were the victory of the actor Song Kang-hofor “Broker”, a feature by directorHirokazu Kore-edaGrand Prix and Jury Prize draws, plus a special prize for the Dardenne brothersmulti-award winning duo at the Festival.
