Seven years after the release of their self-titled album, British hard rock band Def Leppard is back with Diamond Star Almosta 15-track album recorded in the UK and US during the pandemic.
The album’s title, released on Friday, is a reference to lyrics sung in the 1971 rock hit Bang a Gong (Get It On)from the British group T. Rex.
The cover design was created by Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn, known for making music videos for U2, Depeche Mode, Bryan Adams and Arcade Fire.
Diamond Star Almost notably benefited from the collaboration of American bluegrass singer Alison Krauss, who recently worked with former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant on her solo album Raise the roof.
Pianist Mike Garson, who was a loyal companion to David Bowie, also participated on the album, on tracks Goodbye For Good This Time at Angels (You Can’t Help Now).
Diamond Star Almost is the 12e studio album by Def Leppard, a leading group of the 80s and 90s that has sold more than 100 million records since their debut in 1977.
Sipathe first music video from the new album, was released in March.
The five troupe members are also preparing to leave on a North American tour, along with the groups Mötley Crüe and Poison, as well as rocker Joan Jett.
In Canada, The Stadium Tour will stop in Toronto in August, then in Edmonton and Vancouver next month.
