Announced on the big screen last year in the musical film West Side StoryRachel Zegler will take part in another milestone in American popular culture by playing the female lead in the upcoming feature film in the Hunger Games saga.
The project is based on the novel The Ballad of the Serpent and the Songbird, by Suzanne Collins. This book, published in 2020, took place about sixty years before the events presented in the books and their film adaptations.
The film is set to release in theaters on November 27, 2023.
The Hunger Games literary trilogy – which follows the four blockbuster films starring Jennifer Lawrence – is a post -apocalyptic dystopia in which teens and young adults must fight and kill each other, live on television.
Origin of President Snow
Like the novel, the adaptation of The Ballad of the Serpent and the Songbird will narrate the youth of Coriolanus Snow, before he became dictator of the Panem nation. This role, played by Donald Sutherland in the original films, will be played in the prequel by British actor Tom Blyth.
Rachel Zegler will play Lucy Gray Baird, a salute of District 12 which Coriolanus Snow took under his wing, before falling in love with it.
The script was signed by Michael Arndt, who collaborated on the adaptation of fire (2e part of the original film series), and will be directed by Francis Lawrence, who has directed the last three Hunger Games.
