Quite a stir brought about in May by the arrival of Robert De Niro in Argentina to register Whateverthe series conceived and directed by Mariano Cohn Y Gaston Dupratwhich recites Luigi Brandoni.

It is expected that the first season of Whatever, which airs next year on Star +, will finish filming at the end of June. They are shooting fully with Luis Brandoni, who is in 99% of the scenes: he has no rest.

The good thing is that the locations are such that the actor of Waiting for the carriage don’t have a bad time

For example, last week they toured the Club Español restaurant, which reopened after two years of closure, and until 2020 it was known as Palacio Español. That imposing restaurant, in fiction, is the protagonist’s favorite.

And since, as you recall, Manuel being a gastronomy expert, it was also filmed in the French Basque Restaurant, all in the center.

But the news, the rumor circulating in the middle of filming the series is that there will be a second season. And which will be shot in New York, and in which the order of the protagonists will be the reverse of the first. That’s it: Robert De Niro will star in the second season of Whateverand Luis Brandoni will be the friend who leaves Buenos Aires to visit him.

In other words, the opposite of what happens in the first season, in which it is Vincent (De Niro) who arrives in Buenos Aires from New York to visit his friend.

In other words, the tourist, the visitor, will now be the porteño. Will the narrator of the story also change? If in the one recorded in Argentina the narrator is Vincent, in the second it would be Manuel.

As for the shooting dates, they are all speculations, but due to what remains of the first Season and its edition, plus the writing of the scripts (will it be 5 episodes, the same figure as the first?), The production and the timing of pre-production of the second season, could not be, at best, before the second half of 2023.

And we assume that the first drafts of the scripts will start writing shortly, probably next week.

De Niro recently passed the Cannes Film Festival, although he did not have any films in competition for the Palme d’Or, nor in any parallel section, and was with actor Edgar Ramírez.

Lightning-fast trip to New York

Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat will go to New York in ten days, as we had already published. On the one hand, they will present at the TriBeCa Festival – the creator of which was, in fact, Robert De Niro- official competitionthe film that had its international premiere in competition for the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 2021, and arrived in Argentine cinemas on Thursday 17 March.

They will remain there, in Manhattan, for the theatrical release of the film with Antonio Banderas, Penélope Cruz and Oscar Martínez in the United States, and will also take the opportunity to record voices and footage that were waiting with Robert De Niro for the series.

Here it remains to shoot in Plaza San Martín, for a television program to which Manuel is invited, and which is a kind of picnic. The host of the program is an intellectual figure (Ariadna Asturzzi da Rosario), who interviews personalities from culture and art, and who wants to seduce the protagonist. And there are also some scenes to shoot in the La Boca neighborhood.

Francesca’s involvement

Guillermo Francella made a “return of kindness” with Luis Brandoni, since he participated in an episode of The one in chargealso by Cohn and Duprat, with the actor from Married with children. He and Brandoni are friends in real life and they understand each other wonderfully.

And on the Tuesday following Robert De Niro’s departure, that special attendance was registered.

It is that Manuel Tamayo Prats – the full name of the character of Brandoni, whose father was an aristocrat, but the son has failed – has a Mercedes Benz 200 from 81, egg yellow, intact, in perfect condition. But since Manuel doesn’t know how to drive – his assistant knew him, the character played by María Rosa Fugazot, and who dies -, the moment comes when he decides, with all the pain in the world, to put it up for sale.

And the character of Francella arrives. She is an appraiser and car salesman, and a parodic situation occurs, because while one thinks he has a collectible jewel, the other throws it down, exposes all the points against it, to lower the price. And, offended, Manuel ends up screaming.

That an Argentine production has an international star as the actor of Taxi driver Y The Godfather Part IIand that even without having finished filming the first season, there is talk of a continuation and, with filming in New York, one speaks of the confidence that the production has in the product.

And this doesn’t stop there.
