“Obi-Wan Kenobi”: Ewan McGregor Celebrates Series Success After Disney+ Debut

After “Obi-Wan Kenobi” took the spot for the best Disney+ debut of an original production, the veteran Ewan McGregor celebrated the success of the series, on the official Instagram account. The first two episodes reached streaming last Friday (27), and were acclaimed by fans, in addition to having surprised the critics.

“This weekend, ‘Star Wars’ fans made ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ the most-watched original premiere in all of Disney+ history. I want to say a big thank you for that and say that’s what this family can do when we get together.”said McGregor at the beginning of the video.

Then he took the moment to defend his co-star, Moses Ingramthe Inquisitor reviewof the racist attacks it has suffered. “Unfortunately, a part of the fans are sending racist messages to Moses Ingram, who is an excellent actress, a brilliant woman and plays an amazing role in the series and adds so much to the franchise. I ask you to send messages of love to Moses because there is no room for racism here. We are together with Moses and we love her”, he added. Watch:

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” will have 6 episodes and will feature the return of Ewan McGregor (“The Impossible”) as the Jedi Master who trained Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen), and years later introduced Luke Skywalker knowledge of the Force. If his participation is confirmed, it would not be a big surprise for the fans, but a reason for celebration, since McGregor brought the character to life in the saga created by George Lucasbetween episodes I and III.

The cast still has Kumail Nanjiani (“The Eternals”), Indira Varma (“Exodus: Gods and Kings”), Rupert Friend (“Hitman: Agent 47”), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (“Straight Outta Compton: The Story of the NWA), Sung Kang (from the “Fast & Furious” franchise), Simone Kessel (“Reckoning: Settlement”) and Benny Safdie (“Pieces of a Woman”).
