Johnny Depp-Amber Heard trial: jury reached verdict

Finally, this Wednesday (June 1) the jury reached a verdict in the $ 50 million libel suit filed by Johnny Depp against his ex-wife Amber Heardwho testified that Depp physically and sexually abused her on multiple occasions.

The jury also reached a verdict Heard’s $ 100 million counterclaim against Depp. Heard said she was vilified when a Depp lawyer called her allegations of misuse of inventions.

The verdicts are expected to be read in a Virginia court today, Wednesday. To reach a verdict, the seven-member civil jury had to reach a unanimous decision.

Depp sued Heard, accusing her of slandering him with a 2018 op-ed in which he described himself as “a public figure representing domestic abuse.” Heard filed a counter-suit against the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star. (“Pirates of the Caribbean”) after her lawyer called her allegations a hoax: one accuses the other of destroying her career.
