CBC will produce an English adaptation of the Quebec anthology series Plan Bin which Karine Vanasse will play the lead role, along with American actor Patrick J. Adams, who became the main character of the popular legal series Suits.
The co-writers and co-creators of Plan B original, Jean-François Asselin and Jacques Drolet, will collaborate on the screenplay of the new version. They will be supported by Lynne Kamm, who contributed to the English adaptation of another Quebec series, 19-2.
According to expert site Deadline, production of the series will begin this summer in Montreal, for broadcast on CBC and on its video-on-demand platform, CBC Gem, scheduled for winter 2023.
In the footsteps of Magalie Lépine-Blondeau
Plan B is the name of a company that offers its customers a chance to go back in time. Based on the first season of the original series, the new Plan B revolves around Philip (Patrick J. Adams), a lawyer who enlisted the unlikely company to find the love of his life, Evelyn (Karine Vanasse), and change various aspects of his fate.
The first names of the characters are slightly changed compared to the first part of Plan B French-speaking, broadcast on Series+ in 2017, in which Louis Morissette played Philippe, and Magalie Lépine-Blondeau played Evelyne.
Note that a Franco-Belgian adaptation of the second season of Plan B was broadcast on TF1 and La Une last year. The plot was moved from Montreal to Marseille, and the main role of Florence, played by Sophie Lorain in the original version, was played by Frenchwoman Julie de Bona.
The three seasons of Plan B – each consisting of six 45 -minute episodes – is available on ICI TOU.TV (New window). The fourth, starring Pier-Luc Funk, Jean-Michel Anctil, Évelyne Rompré and Mounia Zahzam, is in production.
