HBO Max Production Shows Blackbeard Pirate’s Adventures on the High Seas
“Our Flag Means Death,” Comedy Series Starring Oscar-Winner Taika Waititi, has been officially renewed for its second season by HBO Max. Created by David Jenkinsthe production tells the story of the aristocrat Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby), who abandons the title to embark on an adventure on the high seas.
“We felt the show was special while we were making it, but the fans’ open-armed embrace of the Revenge denizens makes the road to a second season even sweeter.”Jenkins said in a statement carried by EW magazine. “Thanks to our team at HBO Max, our executive producers and our enthusiastic audience for making another trip to this world possible.”
Set in 1717, the series tells the story of bonnet, an aristocrat fascinated by the world of piracy. When he goes through a midlife crisis, he decides to forsake the life of perks and recruit his own crew. However, the protagonist ends up bumping into more experienced pirates than him, including the legendary Blackbeard.
Taika Waititi, responsible for “Thor: Love and Thunder”, also assumes the role of producer on the project. The cast still has Leslie Jones (“Ghostbuster”), Kristian Nairn (“Game of Thrones”) and Fred Armisen (“Portlandia”).
