Artists cannot get away with the fact that, from time to time, some of their personal and artistic accounts on social networks are affected by the actions of hackers. On Tuesday, April 5, several artists, including Justin Bieber and rappers Travis Scott and Drake, were found to have hacked their YouTube accounts.

Instead, the hackers posted videos of a Spanish scammer, Paco Sanz, who was convicted several months ago of committing fraud. On the YouTube accounts of Bieber, Travis and Drake, you can see a material, in a satirical tone, that they call Free Paco Sanz (Free Paco Sanz).

The Spaniard was accused of a series of frauds produced between 2010 and 2017.

But the issue doesn’t stop there. A few hours later, video clips referring to the scammer were also played on other official channels by other artists such as Eminem, The Weeknd and Daddy Yankee, among others. Some only last a few minutes and are gone.

And there is more

For its part, Travis Scott’s YouTube channel has already had problems, a few months ago, due to another situation and has not worked since the tragedy at the Astroworld Festival in Texas in November, when the human collapse in an artist’s concert, resulted in the deaths of eight dead and dozens wounded.

Other hacked accounts, however, are very active and have current material, such as Daddy Yankee’s (who has 36 million followers), which he has just presented this way, which he announced as his farewell music album, Legendaddy.

The character who attacked the accounts of these artists was Francisco José Sanz, known as Paco Sanz, a man working as a security guard in Valencia and 51 years old. Diagnosed with Cowden Syndrome, since 2009 Sanz has publicly denounced his health problem, for not having medical coverage.

This syndrome is characterized by the appearance of benign tumors, but there is no risk of death. Sanz, however, toured several television programs in Spain, providing details about the rare disease he was suffering from.

As a result of one of those interviews, which, like all the programs in which he was a guest, Sanz solicited donations and even opened a web page making sure his illness was “very serious” and exacerbated his symptoms.

But that’s not all. The scammer also founded the NGO Paco Sanz Association for Cowden Syndrome Research in Spain to fund an alleged treatment that needs to be carried out in the United States.

Using this tactic, since 2010, he has defrauded 350,000 euros, including public figures such as Santiago Segura, Dani Mateo, José Mota or Carlos Herrera. But in 2017, he was arrested along with his parents and his former partner, Lucía Carmona, who owned one of the bank accounts.

In this way, the scam was exposed, as Sanz allegedly spent the money on luxury trips and high-end vehicles, among other things.

Although he spent twelve days in prison in 2018, he only had a final sentence in 2021, when the Provincial Court of Madrid sentenced him to two years in prison and to pay the victims 37,000 euros.
