The fog, the gun to the head, the scream of Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy) fired us at the end of the fifth season of Peaky Blindersthe series of Netflix that from this Friday, June 10th, is previewing its sixth and final season.
And it picks up right there.
Do you know who cheated on Tommy? How they solved the disappearance of Aunt Polly, due to the death of Helen McCroy? Does Tommy really want to commit suicide? He was killed and is what is being told a story?
Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy) ended up aiming for her temple in the last episode. Well, he starts the same way. Netflix photos
Many questions remained pending during the lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, which delayed the recording of the last season of Peaky Blindersthese gangsters with long overcoats – for storing pistols or machine guns – and caps with visors that hide knives.
What many fans wonder or fear is whether the outcome will please or disappoint. It will not be the end game of Thronesnor that of House of cards when the canceled Kevin Spacey as president Underwood was gone.
It obviously depends on the expectations with which one arrives at the end, sitting in an armchair. Do you want to be surprised? Will it be more or less the same?
Season 6 focuses even more on Thomas, the Birmingham gangster and politician, in the 1930s.
Closing a story when it is announced that there will be a movie to make after the series ends … And it gives rise to all kinds of guesswork, which we’re not going to spoil here.
Anyone can imagine that what this film, presumably due out at the end of 2023, will tell will be closely related to the latest images of episode 6 of the sixth season.
Peaky Blinders: what time will season six debut on Netflix?
Gina (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Michael (Finn Cole) are in Boston. But revenge will soon move them.

And boy, was the start of this rocky season for Tommy Shelby.
A scene from episode 4, with Tommy and Arthur, his older brother, facing it: this season is erratic.
As has happened in each of the five seasons that preceded it, the conspiracy theory, the desire for revenge and the urgency that the protagonist feels to monopolize more power – although on several occasions he claims that “it’s the last deal” – they are there, in the foreground, hammering his brain. Being the breadwinner has never been easy, but now he has no one to balance it with.
With actress Helen McCroy dying ahead of filming for this season, the disappearance of Aunt Polly left Thomas without crutches. Polly was the only one capable of making him change his mind, of facing him. And from the good Gypsy ancestry she had, she could foresee many things. If it hadn’t been her death, there would have been a war between two family members and one would have died.
Lizzie (Natasha O’Keeffe) and her husband Thomas face an extraordinary event.
We already knew this from last season.
Another constant, and something that began to worry season after season, was that they looked alike. Some foreign threat appeared, Italian, Irish or Jewish, which endangered the hegemony of the Shelby family in the sector of alcohol smuggling, football betting or racetracks. And always, but always, they tried against the life of one of the Shelbys.
Some have escaped. Others, we already know, no.
The strangest thing, perhaps, is the bombast that the first few episodes had. This season is more “photographic”.
This sixth season, while keeping that course, is the most atypical of all. Because if we wanted or at least expected a change, there is. But, and sadly there is a but, and maybe more, the cohesion in the construction of the plot begins to crack when, hey, in episode 4 Tommy, who no longer drank alcohol (!) And commented that he was a new person. , you can imagine what happens.
We know that his conscience and spirit have been somewhat mistreated since the first season. But here are hallucinations, dizziness and nightmares, a physical reason, some denial, some betrayal – of course – and a character that seems tied to Thomas’ past, not only far-fetched, but it looks like a passage from creator Steven Knight to break the block of writing.
Does Arthur fall into an addiction again? Arthur falls into an addiction again.
Gina – “our” Anya Taylor-Joy– Hide more than he says? Gina hides more than she says she does.
And so.
Conrad Khan is Duke, a character who arrives in the series born with a pliers.
What’s not there in these six episodes is a visual display, the one we got used to so well. Without so many extras, or camera roll, everything was (with) centered on Thomas, in his head.
The music, which has nothing to do with the years in which the plot takes place, that counterpoint, has been kept. And if the first few episodes of the sixth season are to be the weakest of the entire series, it picks up in the second half.
Violence plays with the epic, mixing with the mystical … A Peaky Blinders we will miss him – we are already missing the previous seasons -, until the arrival of the film.
