Escudero moved to the municipality of Canelones in 2020 with his family.
In December 2020, Vanina Escudero moves to Canelones, Uruguay with Álvaro Navia and their two children, Benicio and Joaquina. Today, after almost two years in which the whole family has already adapted to the new life in the neighboring country, the dancer and her husband have decided to open a production company called La Casita Contents together and have undertaken various projects.
The “embarking” thing is almost literal, because one of those projects is the “Cruise of Humor”, a tourist proposal for February 2023 that will combine travel and entertainment.
“A lot of comedians that people know will upload; we are trying to give added value to passengers “, Vanina anticipated on this trip which will start on February 22nd from Montevideo and the next day will cross Buenos Aires to go to the beaches of Brazil, where they will visit different places with different shows each one of them 8 nights that will last the trip.
-How do you define your present in Uruguay?
-With a lot of work and generating new things, which is what we like to do. See what’s there and see how it can be transformed. We are trying to give variety to the public.
-In addition to Humor Cruise, what other projects do you have with the production company?
-From La Casita Contents we work for different platforms, networks and theater. We are doing several things. For example, we relaunch a theater in Carrasco, the Arocena theater: a spectacular place that was not used. We try to generate a new theatrical center, outside Montevideo.
Are you going to dance again?
-This winter you will most likely find me on stage and dancing. I always miss dancing, I haven’t been dancing for two years. And this winter I want to take the stage again. First I have to condition the body, train it, do my best to dance. There are always things to adjust, but the body remembers.
Escudero all’Arocena, a theatrical space that will come back to life.
Do you consider yourself a perfectionist?
-Too much. Sometimes it’s not okay to be such a perfectionist with work, I’m very demanding. For example, I love rehearsals and performances, but I don’t like seeing myself because I’m very critical, I prefer to keep the feeling of what I experienced on stage.
With a consolidated present in Uruguay and full of projects to continue developing there, now, in dialogue with ClarioneEscudero goes back a little and remembers how the idea of going to live in another country was born.
“It was always in our plans, but we saw it as something else in the future, then the pandemic came and it changed our plans like everyone else,” he explains.

– Why did you choose Uruguay?
-I always knew that if I had to live in another country, Uruguay was the best place outside of Argentina. Álvaro is Uruguayan, but the decision comes from work. For many years he has been working in both Argentina and Uruguay. In fact, during the pandemic, he was walking out streaming for Uruguay in order not to lose the continuity of work. The doors opened and we decided to come here.
Her husband, Álvaro Navia, is a well-known Uruguayan humorist both in Argentina and in his native country. In fact, they decided to move when they were offered to produce and participate in the version of Charrúa Controversy at the Bar and the Barber of Don Mateo.
Was it a difficult decision to make?
-What attracted me the most was my family, even friends, but we are very close to Silvina, my mom and dad. I have always seen Uruguay as a brother country, especially since I started dating Álvaro, I have felt closer to him every time. It was not a very difficult decision because we Argentines have many points in common with the Uruguayans, we are brother countries.
Escudero moved to Uruguay in 2020 and has no plans to return to Argentina at the moment.
-How was the beginning of your career in Uruguay?
-Since Álvaro has already arrived with a job, the idea has always been that when we settled down and the kids were already more rooted in the school and place, I could also start generating things and this is how our society of production.
-How was the adaptation of your children Benicio (8) and Joaquina (6) to their new life?
-Very well, I am lucky to have fallen into a group of mothers and fathers who love each other. My children have integrated very well into the classes and the school. People have made things very easy for us. Neighbors love us too. We moved into a pandemic, which was at its peak, and people helped make it more enjoyable.
-How is Álvaro as a husband and father?
– He is very friendly, we are very friendly with each other and we really like sharing, listening, consulting. I met him while working and from the beginning I noticed that you are a very noble person. And we got hooked. After a year and 10 months of dating, we got married and two years later we started looking for a child, which cost us more than we would have liked.
Escudero is going through a totally different professional moment from the one she was used to: now she will be a producer.
-How do you remember the search for your first child, Benicio?
-It was long and painful, we were almost 4 years old, it was a long time. It was a rather difficult process that we weren’t prepared for. We started it 12 years ago, quite a taboo subject, which was not talked about. It cost us a lot, it is very painful emotionally and physically, you have to put in a lot of effort, the treatments are invasive.
-Do you feel that being accompanied during that process brought Álvaro and you together?
– Going through everything that separates you or unites you as a couple, is a very important moment in which many emotions move and has united us. It wasn’t easy at all and this whole process reaffirmed our desire to be parents. I fantasized about how I would become a mother, what education I would give my son.
-After going through this whole process, how did you decide to look for another child?
– We always knew we wanted two or three children and when we were ready to start a new treatment, I talked to the doctor to do new studies, but Joaquina ended up coming naturally. She was a blessing. Each of our children arrived in a different way, each has his own journey and his own identity.
Vanina and Álvaro are expecting their second daughter Joaquina in 2016.
-You said you wanted “two or three” children, are you planning to look for the third?
-We wanted three at the time, but today we are very good with two. We spend a lot of time with the kids, we like to be with the family. I can’t imagine breastfeeding again, diapers, everything. I don’t know after, not today.
-Your third child could be the production company you created together …
-Yes, it’s true!

– Between your family and your work projects, how is your relationship with Álvaro today?
– This year we celebrate 14 years of marriage, a lot. We are very well, very in love, happy. More than anything else because of how the day is organized with the boys. This is the great challenge of the years, to be able to understand each other and that everyone has their space and at the same time share it together.
